I'm joined by Jill Smith from WS Training, winner of the West Suffolk College Employee
00:07
of the Year award. It hasn't quite sunk in yet Jill.
00:11
Not quite, no it hasn't, but I'm very overjoyed, thank you.
00:15
Well congratulations, and how proud a moment is this for you tonight?
00:20
Very proud, I'm very emotional because the job I did was really dear to my heart and
00:25
all my students that I've dealt with, with high needs, gave me so much, as much to me
00:31
as I ever gave to them. They taught me so much.
00:34
Tell us more about WS Training and about the job that you do.
00:38
WS Training is based in Ipswich, it's a supported learning centre with such a variety of very
00:44
high needs children, and I dealt a lot of one to one placements. I was out at a forest
00:50
school with one particular young lady who for three years I just changed her life I
00:56
think, and it's such a rewarding thing to do. It's not big steps, it's little steps,
01:04
but those little steps mean everything, they really do, and yeah it's an absolute honour
01:11
to have done the job I've done.
01:12
Does this award feel as much for them as it is for you?
01:17
Definitely, it's probably more for them because without them then what I do, it hasn't
01:24
got the meaning, you know. You just see them on a journey and you try and join their journey
01:30
and hopefully we move them on then to a different learning setting because they don't stay
01:35
with us only for a certain amount of time, but when you hand them on you just give them
01:40
on to another part of their life really, another part of their journey.
01:44
Well done to you, not just for the award but for what you're doing, sounds great, well
01:48
done, congratulations.
01:49
Thank you very much, thank you.
01:50
(laughs)
01:52
