00:00 Former President Donald Trump on Monday called for barring potential refugees from Gaza from
00:10 entering the US, promising to expand his travel ban that President Joe Biden's administration
00:16 rescinded in 2021.
00:19 In an extension of the anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant sentiments he channeled during his 2016 presidential
00:26 run and made a connoisseur of his administration, Trump offered a litany of proposals that in
00:33 many ways adapted his previous policies to reflect current events.
00:37 He promised again to bar people from certain parts of the world, particularly where Islam
00:42 is most commonly practiced, while curbing immigrants and the overall number of refugees
00:48 the United States would take in.
00:50 Trump said, "In the wake of the attacks on Israel, Americans have been disgusted to see
00:54 the open support for terrorists among the legends of foreign nationals on college campuses.
01:00 They're teaching our children hate.
01:02 Under the Trump administration, we will revoke the student visas of radical anti-American
01:07 and anti-Semitic foreigners at our colleges and universities, and we will send them straight
01:13 back home."
01:14 Furthermore, Trump stated his intention to dispatch law enforcement officers to protests
01:20 in support of Hamas with the purpose of arresting and deporting immigrants who openly endorse
01:26 the Palestinian militant group.
01:29 Other Republican presidential candidates on Monday called for revoking student visas and
01:33 deporting foreign nationals in the US who have aligned themselves with Hamas.
01:37 The escalating rhetoric of GOP candidates comes as the Israel-Hamas conflict deepens
01:43 and the death toll from the war sharply climbs.
01:45 While Republicans on the campaign trail have been discussing refugees from Gaza, the Biden
01:50 administration has so far not publicly talked about a special carve-out for Palestinians.
01:56 This comes amid the Israel-Hamas war in which at least 1,300 Israelis were reported to have
02:01 been killed, leading to an escalation of the conflict.
02:05 Palestinian health officials, on the other hand, stated that during the same period of
02:09 conflict, the number of Palestinian casualties in Gaza attributed to Israel exceeded 2,800.
02:15 Former President Trump, who served from 2017 to 2021, has declared that if he were to win
02:21 a second term in the White House, he would implement measures to prohibit the entry of
02:25 individuals who do not acknowledge Israel's right to exist.
