00:00After the 7th of October crisis.
00:11We will never give up as long as this criminal government is in control.
00:15Having a national inquiry committee, of course.
00:19Which will be established by the Chief Justice.
00:23Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is once again facing fire from his own people,
00:31despite managing to secure what many call at least a partial victory against Hamas.
00:40On Saturday, thousands of Israeli citizens took to the streets of Tel Aviv,
00:45demanding a proper investigation into the October 7 attack by Hamas.
00:53You know, after the 7th of October crisis.
00:57We demand to have a national inquiry committee.
01:03Which will be established by the Chief Justice.
01:07The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Israel.
01:12Not by Mr Netanyahu, who didn't take any responsibility yet.
01:19And not by his own ministers.
01:22What led to the security failure and the subsequent action taken by the Israeli government.
01:28We came here today to say no to racism, no to fascism, no to the rule of criminal people
01:36that have taken over our government.
01:38And we will never give up as long as this criminal government is in control of our country.
01:43Led by members of the October Council and joined by the now freed hostages and their families,
01:49the protesters staged a mass demonstration at the Habima Square,
01:55while renewing their demand for establishing a fact-finding commission of inquiry
02:01to fully investigate the horrifying October 7 attack.
02:05Having a national inquiry committee is, of course, a trivial essential detail.
02:11It has to happen. It is ridiculous and unlawful not to have it happen until now.
02:17But again, we're here for our core values.
02:20I mean, what brought us here is basically the law of racism and criminal policies of Netanyahu for tens of years.
02:29Also attending the rally were former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, opposition leader Yara Lapid,
02:35and lawmakers Benny Gantz and Yara Galan.
02:41Bennett even wrote in a post on X, and I quote,
02:44The people of Israel deserve answers about how the terrible failure happened and how to prevent it from happening again.
02:52The protesters have regularly insisted that Netanyahu and his right-wing cabinet
02:58is attempting to block an honest investigation into the roots of the attack.
03:03It should be an objective committee. It should be a committee who will really find out the outcome that we had such a failure, such a crisis.
03:15The following military operation against Hamas and the subsequent full-scale war in Gaza.
03:22In a statement, the protesters said that the Netanyahu cabinet was instead rushing to create a political whitewash committee,
03:31which would be a red line for the Israeli public.
03:34The protests come days after the Netanyahu cabinet announced plans to form an independent commission of inquiry with full investigative powers.
03:43This committee is expected to set the framework of the probe, define the premises of the inquiry, and limit the time period of the investigation.
