00:00 There we go, perfect.
00:01 Great.
00:03 I don't need to start that introduction again,
00:05 but we'll get straight into the questions.
00:06 Who would like to take the first one?
00:09 Tienes?
00:12 Yes.
00:14 Hi, Temba.
00:24 Would you say this is one of the most beautiful grounds
00:26 that you've ever been and might play at
00:29 and also what are you guys expecting of the weather
00:32 to do tomorrow and does that influence your plans at all?
00:37 Yeah, it definitely is one of the beautiful grounds
00:40 to play at around the world.
00:44 In terms of what to expect tomorrow,
00:47 we're not expecting rain, that's what we were told,
00:51 but I guess we'll see what happens from there.
00:52 If it affects our combinations, probably not too much.
00:58 I think we'll obviously have a look at the wicket.
00:59 I think that will be probably the biggest determiner
01:02 as to which way we go.
01:05 But the weather, I guess, is just more of an awareness
01:07 and us being mindful of potentially
01:10 that could be a factor in the game.
01:15 Just want to know as well,
01:16 did you guys stay up last night, watch the box?
01:18 And if so, what did you think?
01:21 Yeah, definitely.
01:23 I'm still trying to wake up from the late night.
01:26 Incredible game, inspirational the way the guys
01:29 went about their business.
01:32 I think the intensity that the game was played at
01:34 from the first minute till the last,
01:36 I think that's one thing that the guys kept speaking about.
01:41 Obviously happy as the Springboks were able
01:43 to get over the line, but yeah,
01:46 incredible, inspirational game.
01:49 Tell me, have you played 2-1-2?
01:52 Things couldn't have gone better for you so far.
01:55 Does the plan change now,
01:57 or do you just keep doing what you're doing?
01:59 I think we just keep doing what we're doing.
02:02 We'll take it game by game, as I always say.
02:05 Every game will present different opportunities,
02:08 different challenges, and it's for us to man up
02:11 to whatever those challenges are.
02:14 So coming up against Netherlands tomorrow,
02:16 nothing will be different.
02:18 We'll assess conditions here in Dharamshala
02:20 and play accordingly.
02:21 But yeah, good start.
02:23 Obviously 1-2-2-2, the important thing is that
02:26 we keep getting better and better and use that momentum.
02:29 Cool, go behind, and then we'll take one in the front.
02:32 Timo, obviously I suppose that extends also to the outfield.
02:36 There's been a lot of talk about it being a bit bumpy,
02:39 and there's had to be some remedial work
02:41 done in the build-up and stuff.
02:44 Are you in agreement with Rob,
02:46 who said you might have to be cautious
02:49 of diving too over-eagerly on the surface,
02:51 or how do you think you guys approach feeling on this?
02:56 Yeah, I think, I mean, the field is a bit patchy.
03:00 We did have a fielding practice last night,
03:02 and to be honest, it didn't play as bad as it really looked.
03:07 But I guess we'll see how it goes within the game.
03:10 We have spoken about trying to be a bit more cautious,
03:13 maybe changing your diving technique.
03:16 I don't know how easy that is to do
03:18 when you're in the heat of the moment.
03:20 I guess guys will just have to, I guess,
03:22 just pay a bit more attention to that.
03:28 But yeah, like I said, when we filled it yesterday,
03:30 it wasn't all too bad.
03:32 But we'll really get to see when we're
03:33 playing in the game tomorrow.
03:36 Hi, Timo.
03:37 You have been scoring runs at a good strike rate, all of you,
03:41 all the batters.
03:42 Is that a plan that you had prepared earlier
03:44 before the tournament, or it is just about the wicket,
03:46 the way wickets are playing?
03:49 Yeah, I think to go back to what I've always said regarding
03:54 our brand of cricket, us being opportunistic as batters,
03:58 as bowlers, looking to take the game on.
04:03 And that obviously means--
04:04 it generally means that the strike rates will be a bit
04:06 higher.
04:07 So yeah, I mean, if you look at our top six, top seven,
04:09 all of the guys really have been striking at high strike rates.
04:13 Other guys are obviously exceeding in that department.
04:18 But I think it's just more a matter of us keeping up
04:21 the intent, looking for opportunities
04:23 to put bowlers under pressure, and obviously backing
04:26 our skills and execution.
04:28 So coming into the World Cup, nothing
04:31 is going to be different.
04:32 We're going to keep going the same way.
04:35 We're going to keep backing that.
04:37 [INAUDIBLE]
04:40 Hi, Tim.
04:40 So the last time you guys played against the Netherlands,
04:43 they pulled one against you at the ICC T20 World Cup
04:46 last year, and with Afghanistan having pulled off an upset,
04:49 a bigger one, yesterday.
04:52 I mean, how you are assessing the opposition now.
04:54 Does that sort of change your mentality towards them?
04:57 Not at all.
04:58 I think we'll give them the respect
05:00 that they deserve, Netherlands.
05:02 We know that their side will prepare with proper attention
05:06 to detail.
05:07 They'll cover their bases.
05:09 So we've got to make sure that we do the same thing.
05:12 We'll make sure that we pitch up.
05:13 There's no expectation that things are just
05:15 going to happen our way.
05:17 But most importantly, we just keep backing what we are doing.
05:22 So there's no complacency or taking the game for granted.
05:27 The last time we played Netherlands
05:31 was back home in South Africa in that series.
05:34 We obviously needed those points to qualify for the World Cup.
05:36 And I think there, the performances that we showed
05:39 were critical.
05:40 So tomorrow, we'll be looking to do more of the same.
05:44 [INAUDIBLE]
05:45 Timber, eight members by my count of the 11 in Adelaide
05:49 in the game against the Netherlands, or in the squad.
05:52 I'm sure it didn't feel like that day.
05:55 But it's almost an advantage now.
05:56 You don't need to convince yourselves
05:57 that they can beat you.
05:58 You know that.
05:59 What's the question?
06:02 Well, that there's no kind of-- it's not an airy,
06:06 fairy thing that these guys could beat you.
06:09 You know that for a fact.
06:10 And that must almost help with not motivation,
06:13 but you know for a fact that they could beat you,
06:16 that you cannot, under any circumstances,
06:18 take them lightly.
06:20 We definitely won't be taking them lightly.
06:24 There was a T20 World Cup last year.
06:27 So 50 over World Cup now, a different format,
06:31 different ask in terms of your skills,
06:34 being able to do your skills for a longer period of time.
06:36 So I think that's something that I think
06:39 we all need to appreciate.
06:41 Like I said, we played them in South Africa.
06:43 I think our victories there were emphatic in my view.
06:48 So I think in terms of the confidence and belief
06:51 within the team, without us being arrogant or loud about it,
06:55 I think it's still up there.
06:57 We still respect the opposition, not just Netherlands,
06:59 but any opposition that you come up
07:01 with against that international level.
07:04 But we'll be coming up-- we'll be coming into the game
07:07 with the same mindset that we had against Sri Lanka
07:11 and that we had against Australia.
07:13 The last question.
07:16 All right, that concludes the press conference.
07:18 Thank you very much, everyone.
07:19 Thank you.
