Sheffield Sharks' Jordan Ratinho discusses opening up the team's new home - the Canon Medical Arena - with a British Basketball League win against Newcastle Eagles

00:00 First game in the new arena, it couldn't have gone better could it?

00:08 No it couldn't.

00:09 It was a great environment, it was a big first win for us in the arena, it gives us a little

00:14 bit of a boost going forward and it kind of inspired us to play this way every single

00:19 game and build on it this season.

00:22 No sign of stage fright or anything, you came out fast and really got on top of Newcastle?

00:27 Yeah, I mean we've always stood by our defence, throughout the season we were playing a really

00:31 good defence and I think today our offence was quick and we were moving the ball, we

00:35 were trusting each other and it showed on the court.

00:37 Good stuff, the crowd in here as well really rocking, just exactly what you wanted.

00:42 Yeah, we couldn't ask for a better crowd, hopefully we just keep getting great turnouts

00:47 and hopefully we give them something good to watch every game.

00:50 On the court as well, what was the ethos as well because you just kept going and going

00:53 and relentless really.

00:55 Yeah, I mean everything built on each other, we were playing with each other, for each

00:59 other, everyone was making the right plays, everyone was playing unselfishly and any time

01:06 we got a group of guys playing like that we can do great things so hopefully we just keep

01:10 building on this and keep moving forward.

01:12 Get a few home games now as well, even things actually, you've had a lot of road games.

01:16 Yeah, we've been on the road for a little while so it felt good playing at home, hopefully

01:19 get a few more home games so shout out to the crowd.

01:22 Having played at Ponds Forge for all your career here, how exciting was today for you?

01:27 Yeah, I mean it was really exciting, being able to practice in a new arena, played a

01:32 few scrimmages in here, we were kind of waiting for this moment to be able to play our first

01:36 real game in here and we took advantage of it and hopefully we just keep building and

01:41 make this a tough place to play for everybody coming in.

01:44 Does it feel like a bit more of a club now, you've got your own locker room, you've got

01:47 your own arena?

01:48 Yeah, definitely, definitely.

01:49 We've made big improvements this year so hopefully we just keep moving forward and

01:54 we do the best we can on the court, that's all we can focus on.
