Only 7mil accounts in M'sia are equipped with 5G ready devices, says Fahmi

Only about seven million out of 45 million mobile user accounts in Malaysia are equipped with 5G-ready devices, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.  Fahmi said this has deprived them of using and enjoying the 5G network even though it was already available in their areas.  He told reporters after attending the Petronas’ first commercial 5G Private Network officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof  on Friday (Oct 6). 01:09 For example, if you do not have a, in order to use 5G

01:13 you need to have a 5G ready device.

01:17 So, out of about 45 million accounts in Malaysia currently

01:24 there are only about, I'm informed, maybe about

01:28 more than 7 million 5G ready devices.

01:31 So, even if we have immediate opt-in, not everyone can use 5G right away.

01:38 So, that's why programs such as 5G Rahma would be helpful

01:43 particularly for B4T to purchase, procure 5G devices

01:50 so that they can use 5G.
