00:00 Donald Trump has skipped the second Republican primary debate, which was recently held in
00:04 California.
00:05 Instead, he visited Detroit, where auto union workers are currently striking for better
00:10 wages and benefits and fewer working hours.
00:12 There, he was set to give a speech, a counterpoint to the evening's regularly scheduled televised
00:17 primary debate.
00:18 There's just one thing.
00:20 He gave his speech at a non-union auto parts producer in Michigan, just one day after President
00:25 Biden rallied with strikers.
00:27 Rather than line up with union workers, Donald Trump has used another tactic, using America's
00:32 green energy plans against the sitting president.
00:35 Trump released a statement calling President Biden's electric vehicle mandate, which looks
00:39 to have 50% of all cars made in the US be electric by 2030, draconian, saying it will
00:44 put thousands of auto workers out of a job.
00:46 Though it seems that had little effect on the striking union workers themselves.
00:50 As multiple news outlets are reporting, few striking workers actually showed up to listen
00:54 to the former president speak.
00:56 So whose side is Donald Trump on with regards to the strike?
00:59 Well, that's also unclear, as he's been particularly wishy-washy about it, telling reporters recently,
01:04 quote, I'm on the side of making our country great.
01:07 The auto workers are being sold down the river by their leadership and their leadership should
01:12 endorse Trump.
01:13 (upbeat music)
