00:38 It may be called un preview, but Bad Bunny's new release is a full on track.
00:43 I mean he's a busy guy between new music and his upcoming film Cassandro, Bad Bunny
00:53 fans are being fed.
00:55 And if you're a fan of female led bands, you're about to be fed too.
00:58 Paramore teased something on social, writing out some dates in a notes app and it appears
01:03 they're teasing something related to their February album This Is Why.
01:08 The first date listed is Friday, so we'll know more then.
01:11 But we definitely know we're getting a new EP from Boy Genius.
01:15 They're following up their album The Record with a four song EP titled The Rest and it's
01:20 all yours on October 13th.

02:09 Alright, now onto the interview portion of the show.
02:12 We sat down with country chart topper Darius Rucker and he told Tetris about new music
02:17 working with Ed Sheeran and country dominating the charts.
02:20 You did a track with Ed Sheeran, Sarah, so how was it to work with Ed?
02:23 I flew over to England to write with him and that kid is such an amazing songwriter and
02:29 such a really good guy and good human being and I was honored to work with him and he's
02:34 something special.
02:35 Well when you get in the studio with somebody that's a great songwriter like that, is it
02:39 like competitive or are you like we're just going to work together?
02:41 But you're like these skills are up here, you know?
02:43 You know it's a work together thing but you know, it's amazing like you'll say a line
02:47 and or you'll sing a line and you'll sing it back and he's singing it different and
02:51 he's saying different words but they're just better.
02:54 And you know, so you go with that and it was a great experience.
02:59 I hope I get to write with Ed again, he's awesome.
03:01 And then of course, Carolyn's Boy obviously referencing your mom.
03:04 So what was it like to name the album after her?
03:07 You know it was during the pandemic and everything, we were writing the record and I was having
03:09 a bad day and I just remember I just said to myself, you know, at the end of the day
03:14 I'm just my mama's boy and so I decided I was going to name it Carolyn's Boy after that
03:18 but and it was just, she was such a big influence on me and she was so important in my life
03:23 and you know, it was time for me to do something special like that.
03:27 That's really touching to me, you know, I lost my mom at a young age as well and people
03:30 call me Trisha's son.
03:31 Yeah.
03:32 So yeah, I completely understand when you're just the son.
03:35 Absolutely.
03:36 One thing that I think about is like, what experience did I go through that I'm like,
03:40 oh I wish she had seen that.
03:42 So what's a career accomplishment that you wish you could show Carolyn?
03:45 Oh I wish she could have seen me win, you know, my first Grammy.
03:49 That's something I wish she could have seen.
03:50 I mean, we used to watch the Grammys as a family when I was a kid and that was a moment
03:55 that really hit me when I won that first Grammy just thinking, God I wish my mom was here
03:59 to see this.
04:00 No one believed in me as much as mom.
04:04 Country music has taken over, you know, for me I think it's great to see, you know, to
04:10 have the top three spots in the Hot 100 and all the touring everybody's doing and doing
04:14 well out there.
04:15 It's great to see country is not rock's little sister anymore, you know, country's standing
04:20 up for itself and on its own and I love being a part of it, you know.
04:24 You see a lot of great things happening in country music from, you know, those guys doing
04:27 that and then you see all these African American artists getting record deals and stuff like
04:30 that so it's, you know, country seems to be moving on up.
04:33 You can see the full interview on Billboard.com.
04:35 Keeping it country, we know that country artists love to party, but it's not every day that
04:41 you get to hear someone be vulnerable about their struggles.
04:45 Billboard's Stephen Dawes sat down with Lady A and Charles Kelly did just that.
04:49 I'm getting close to 15 months.
04:51 I never thought that I would actually enjoy it, you know.
04:55 I kind of was like, okay, I want to do this.
04:57 I'm going to do this for my family.
04:58 I'm going to do this for my band.
04:59 I'm going to do it for myself.
05:01 But I never really thought I would actually, you know, enjoy it like I have and I think
05:06 it's the energy you get from, you know, not having crazy nights and all those different
05:11 things, but just also for me, I think it's kind of led me a lot closer to my spirituality.
05:16 It's led me to look at myself and what I want more.
05:21 Like what am I doing?
05:22 What am I standing for?
05:23 What do I want the next 20 years?
05:24 And I think, you know, sometimes you have to kind of hit that little point of desperation
05:28 in a way, I think, to find that and I'm just, I'm glad I hit it, you know, in my 40s and
05:33 didn't wait until later on in life.
05:35 We'll have more with Lady A in the coming weeks.
05:37 Now, before I let you go, Jharrel Jerome came through and broke down what's on his playlist.
05:42 Hey, what's up guys?
05:44 I'm Jharrel Jerome and this is my playlist.
05:50 My workout playlist would usually include a lot of Travis Scott or oddly enough, a lot
05:55 of Afro beats.
05:57 I'm super into like grooving on the treadmill.
06:04 My road trip playlist would probably be a Drake album.
06:08 Probably, probably a full Drake album because there's some good range of music or Tame Apollo
06:13 actually.
06:14 It depends where I'm driving actually.
06:16 If I'm like down the PCH, Tame Apollo.
06:21 Singing in the shower, Frank Ocean or anything that makes me feel like I could really, really
06:25 sing.
06:26 I'm Andy and those are my playlists.
06:30 That's it for today.
06:31 Come back tomorrow where we'll be going speed dating with Becky G.
06:35 I'm Rania Nifdos and this is Billboard News.
