00:00We're in a time where black women, I feel like, are crushing it internationally with music, fashion, culture.
00:05What does it feel like to be not only one of the starters of that wave, but just a part
00:08of it?
00:09That is a great feeling, to be a part of that.
00:12And being from the time we came back, we came from the 80s, and we're still here, crushing it with
00:18the new generations.
00:19And to be honored next to it, to the recognition, where it started, the rap, the style of music that
00:26wasn't even supposed to be here.
00:27And we are inducted, and we, you know, put that, we repping it.
00:31We repping it.
00:34I feel like we're kind of responsible for a lot of the powerful women that are out there.
00:38As, you know, women that have motivated other women for years with our music, there's generations that came up after
00:46us that say that we motivated them.
00:50So, yeah, a lot of that power might have been due to what Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella was talking
00:55about back in the day.
00:56So, we talked about a lot of stuff back then.
00:58I'm not going to lie.
00:59I'm geeking out right now because I got yelled at when I was younger.
01:03Because some of the songs, I didn't know what the songs, I didn't know what y'all was saying.
01:08And my mom was like, what are you singing right now?
01:10And like, so just so y'all know, crazy vibes.
01:13Don't worry about that.
01:14So, my mom, to make sure.
01:17Sorry, mom.
01:17Literally, it got kind of crazy.
01:19Especially when MTV was so big, watching certain videos.
01:21She was not having it.
01:22Not having it in that D.C. household.
01:24But I got to ask.
01:25So, what has been your favorite musical moment of last year and this year?
01:29It could be a performance, a song, anything.
01:32I'd say we got the rock and roll, same induction.
01:36And our performance was fire.
01:38And Missy gave us our award.
01:40That was crazy.
01:42It was so great because our homeboy, you know, Ken and Play, that performance was everything.
01:46You know, we had the Ken and Play who made the jackets.
01:49It was in vogue, you know.
01:51It was a family affair and it felt good.
01:54That's so goddamn cool.
01:55Wait.
01:56That's so cool to me.
01:59So, one of the other questions we're asking everybody is, what theme song or song album would be the theme
02:04to your life?
02:05So, it could be from any time period.
02:07It could be from a movie.
02:08Anybody.
02:10Theme song?
02:11Theme song of your life.
02:12I know so many Dagon songs.
02:14I don't know.
02:15I would have to say, what?
02:19Superfly?
02:20I don't know.
02:20Superfly the soundtrack?
02:21Trucking, baby.
02:23Baby.
02:24I said, I got to keep on.
02:26Push it good.
02:26I don't know.
02:27Push it good.
02:28See, that counts.
02:29I mean, that's going to be it for a lot of people.
02:31You know what I mean?
02:32A lot of people.
02:33Mine is, she's a brick.
02:36How?
02:37No.
02:39Mine is Bon Jovi from The Superhuman Wet.
02:41You know, just like, I'm a cowboy.
02:43You got to go on to Dead or Alive.
02:46Wow.
02:47That's my favorite.
02:48Dead or Alive.
02:48Y'all.
02:49Okay, well, we're on.
02:50You know, we're on to God.
02:51We'll see you next time.
02:51We're on, we're on.
02:52We're on the other side.
02:52You
