00:00 - We know each other pretty well.
00:01 - Pretty well.
00:02 - Pretty well.
00:03 - Though you have had a very long and storied career.
00:05 There could be real gaps in my knowledge.
00:07 - Hopefully there's some gaps.
00:08 - In the times before Maya.
00:09 - You've got things to do, yeah.
00:11 (upbeat music)
00:13 - I'm Maya.
00:21 - I'm Ethan.
00:22 - And--
00:23 - We're gonna see how much we know about each other.
00:25 - That's true.
00:26 - We know our last names.
00:27 - We do know that, we know more about each other
00:29 than most people who will play this game.
00:32 - Yeah, but that doesn't mean we'll score high marks.
00:35 - Yeah, we think too much.
00:36 - So, yep.
00:38 - There we are.
00:38 - We're not very career focused
00:39 in our dinner table conversations, so.
00:42 What was Maya's first school play?
00:45 Can't believe I remember this.
00:49 - Well, there was so many that we're not gonna,
00:54 a little, yeah, okay, all right.
00:56 I'm gonna go with...
00:58 (dice clacking)
00:59 Okay.
01:00 - Oh, that is the right one!
01:03 Oh my God, I can't, that's what I was thinking of.
01:05 - You're cheating?
01:06 - No, I saw yours.
01:07 - Oh, that's cheating.
01:08 - Okay, that's cheating, all right.
01:10 I'm gonna lose this game,
01:11 but this was the first time
01:12 she made a very substantial impression.
01:15 - But my actual first performance was as Jenny
01:19 in "Jenny and the School for Cats."
01:20 I was one of three Jennys.
01:22 (buzzer buzzing)
01:23 But that was my first real performance.
01:26 - Her performance as the Artful Dodger,
01:29 people speak of it in hushed tones.
01:31 - We do have the DVD.
01:32 - Yeah, we do have the DVD.
01:33 We have the DVD for "Jenny and the School for Cats" too.
01:36 - Okay, well then, I will.
01:37 - Yeah, so I really should have gotten it.
01:38 That doesn't qualify in the level of performance
01:41 that our family aspires to.
01:44 - It's true, it's a very high standard.
01:46 - Technically, she's right.
01:47 - He gave me a very harsh review for this performance,
01:49 and at home I just cried myself to sleep.
01:52 - Not true.
01:53 - I worked much harder on my Artful Dodger.
01:55 - That was at beginning, so that's--
01:56 - No, it wasn't, it was at Brearley.
01:58 - Oh, it was, you're right.
02:00 - Sorry, you're doing great.
02:02 I'm really glad you messed up,
02:03 'cause now it gives me some freedom to mess up.
02:05 - Would Ethan rather go to a Rihanna or Lady Gaga concert?
02:10 - Ooh, interesting question.
02:11 I have a very fast answer,
02:13 because that information is really available online.
02:17 Ri-Ri, baby, by a long shot.
02:21 - That's what I thought.
02:21 But I have been to a Lady Gaga concert,
02:24 and I haven't been to a Ri-Ri.
02:25 - Well, that's partly why you would wanna go.
02:27 - All right, all right.
02:28 And 'cause, well, I took you to Lady Gaga, but yeah.
02:30 - Yeah, you did.
02:31 - My worst. - No, you didn't.
02:34 - Yeah, I did.
02:35 - No, you didn't.
02:36 - No, we went to see--
02:37 - Madonna, and we were sitting next to Lady Gaga.
02:40 I haven't been to a Lady Gaga concert.
02:42 Have you not either?
02:43 - Well, I thought I had.
02:44 - Well, no, it was Madonna.
02:45 - Yeah, so I was wrong.
02:47 Memory tricks.
02:48 - Memory does trick.
02:49 - Lady Gaga was sitting near us,
02:50 and that made a big impression.
02:51 - Yes, we did have an amazing year,
02:53 where we went to Madonna, Taylor, and Adele.
02:56 And it was a highly educational,
02:58 very motivational year for me.
03:00 It was some very good fathering.
03:02 - That was a good year.
03:03 - Yeah, well, we gotta go see Rihanna next.
03:05 - Yeah, we gotta go see Rihanna.
03:07 I've been caught by the paparazzi
03:08 openly flirting with Rihanna, and that's been a huge--
03:11 - Openly trying to.
03:12 - Yeah, trying to flirt.
03:14 So that's been to the family's shame.
03:17 So you're really touching a nerve.
03:19 - No, it's family pride.
03:21 - What was the name of the first song Maya wrote?
03:24 - I don't really remember the name,
03:25 but I remember the opening line.
03:28 - That's good enough.
03:30 That's the name.
03:31 All right.
03:33 - Life's not too easy.
03:37 - But is that the same one with,
03:38 has the motion of the ocean?
03:40 - I think the motion of the ocean is,
03:42 I mean, if it is, I stole it from Hairspray.
03:45 (Maya singing)
03:50 - You know, remember that one that you had about,
03:53 you wrote it in Nova Scotia.
03:54 - Oh, you stopped the river rolling in the wrong direction?
03:57 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:58 - That's the same one.
03:59 - That's the same one.
04:00 - That's the same one.
04:00 - All right, all right, all right.
04:01 - All right, so you got it right.
04:02 It's a river rolling, but the motion of the ocean.
04:04 It's very original.
04:06 - Yeah, Maya was always writing songs.
04:08 So that's very hard.
04:09 That was the first one that got consistent play.
04:13 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:14 - That one was made, that was a,
04:16 that made your set list at the dinner table
04:19 for a couple of years.
04:20 - For a couple of years, but I will say
04:21 it was an entire rip off of a song
04:25 from the Miley Cyrus, Hannah Montana soundtrack.
