A huge signing.
Transcript
00:00 So, the Leeds have announced Joel Perrault.
00:03 How much of a difference will he make, do you think, into this Leeds side?
00:08 Well, if 19 minutes of his debut is to go by, then a very big difference.
00:11 I mean, it didn't take him long at all, did it?
00:13 Obviously, as part of the 4-3 victory at Ipswich,
00:16 yeah, I think he'll make a huge difference.
00:18 We've been saying for weeks, you know, on these shows and everything, that really a number nine
00:22 feels like an essential acquisition that they needed to get Leeds.
00:26 And he's come and I think they've got him a good deal and a good price, really.
00:30 I think 10 million, just north of that, given his age.
00:34 You know, he's 24, so he's still obviously got an awful lot of improvement to come.
00:38 I would suggest he's probably only going to get better.
00:40 That's what Daniel Farker said in his post-match press conference as well about him,
00:43 that he sort of said he was like the complete package, but a player that could continue to get better.
00:48 You look at his goals and games, like 46 goals in 96 games for Swansea.
00:52 I mean, that's a really good ratio.
00:53 I mean, basically, he's a championship goalscorer who scores goals and that's what Leeds need.
00:57 And also it's interesting that obviously on his debut, firstly, that he came in so quickly,
01:02 which is quite impressive, obviously, having only just signed.
01:04 But also, like, that he actually sort of almost played as a 10, really, with Routier.
01:08 So, I mean, there's that option as well.
01:09 So, yeah, I think he'll make a big, big difference.
01:12 And obviously the thing is now, you know, you've sort of built your front line around Perot, I would have thought.
01:17 But you've got to remember, there is still Patrick Bamford, who's obviously on his way back.
01:21 What this does mean, though, is it doesn't have as much reliance on Bamford coming back.
01:24 And we've said that for a while, that when Bamford's fit, you know, his hold-up play is brilliant.
01:29 Obviously, his goals ratio is not amazing in terms of, like, chances missed.
01:32 But, you know, he is an important part of the team.
01:34 But this now obviously gives Leeds another option.
01:36 And a key option that is interesting, really, like as soon as he signed, I think he was sort of like joint third or fourth favourite to be top scorer in the division.
01:42 Even after scoring one goal, he's gone to second favourite.
01:45 And I can see why, because I think he's going to be the focal point of the attack.
01:47 I think if he gets chances, he'll score them.
01:49 And yeah, I think he'll make a big difference.
01:51 And it literally could be the difference between essentially going up or not.
01:54 I think I do feel as strongly about that as that about it.
01:57 So a really good signing.
01:58 The player knows the league well and scores goals.
02:01 But, you know, even more so, I think he'll only get better.
