Fluorescent buoys lit up the darkening canals, as swimmers took on the waterways of Copenhagen at sunset on Friday (August 25) to complete a two-kilometre course through the city centre.

00:20 And I think that it's really important
00:22 that we use it for leisure.
00:24 To us, we're talking so much about how green spaces are
00:28 important, but blue spaces are important as well.
00:30 And that we can actually have swimmers swimming
00:32 around in the harbor by night is perfect.

00:38 My brother, he's a love of water swimming.
00:57 And he passed away.
00:59 And he told me before he passed away,
01:01 he wanted me to keep going, keep swimming, and keep doing it.
01:03 So he'd have been here in a heartbeat
01:05 if he could have been.
01:06 So I wanted to do it in his memory.
