Nearly 60ha of a fire spanning 300ha of an oil palm plantation in Rompin has been put out as of 5pm Saturday (March 28).

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations and rescue Mohd Salahuddin Isa said 85 water-bombing runs had been carried out to contain the blaze, using 68,000 litres of water.

00:08have been extinguished as of 5 p.m. on Saturday.
00:12Pahang Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Director of Operations and Rescue,
00:17Mohamed Salahuddin Issa, said 85 water bombing runs had been carried out to contain the blaze,
00:23using a total of 68,000 litres of water.
00:26The operation area has been divided into four sectors, with the focus on sectors A and C,
00:33involving three teams, including the air unit conducting water bombing operations.
00:38He added that sectors B and D are currently under control,
00:42and authorities expect the plantation fire to be fully extinguished within a week.
00:48Meanwhile, the Air Pollutant Index Management System reported unhealthy air quality in Rompin,
00:54with an air pollutant index reading of 152 as of 10 a.m. on Saturday.
01:01Pahang Environment Department Director Zakaria Ahmad said checks would be carried out
01:06to determine whether the fire or other factors caused the unhealthy reading.
