00:00 Well, one of the hottest tickets in South
00:02 Florida was the local grocery store.
00:04 A lot of folks were headed
00:06 there over the weekend.
00:07 Now we're here in Miami Dade County.
00:09 The kids here started back at
00:11 school a little over a week ago,
00:13 but in Broward County where
00:14 we were earlier on Sunday.
00:16 Well, their first day of school is Monday,
00:18 so a lot of parents were out and about.
00:21 So our grandparents,
00:22 everybody hustling into all the local
00:24 stores trying to get their supplies,
00:26 get everything ready in time
00:27 for the new school year,
00:28 and then the news came that the
00:30 Atlantic Basin started to get.
00:32 Pretty busy over the weekend and
00:34 it has been a mad dash to try and
00:37 get everything in order in time.
00:38 It's a lot. I mean, it gets busy.
00:41 Gas is going super high and stuff like
00:43 that and it's just it's just a lot of.
00:46 You know, going back to school.
00:47 Then we have to go ahead and get
00:49 prepared for, you know, hurricane season.
00:51 So it's it's been a little hectic and
00:54 even locals that have lived here for
00:56 many years said they kind of have
00:58 a hard time when they start to get
01:00 things ready for the hurricane season.
01:02 Always we would buy a little bit
01:04 more things that could last longer.
01:05 But yes, of course we're always
01:07 aware about that. We're in Florida.
01:09 This weekend definitely served as a wake
01:11 up call. Many said as they start to
01:13 get ready and start to look at those
01:15 lists a little more closely with about
01:17 80% of the hurricane season left and
01:19 the height of the season still a few
01:22 weeks away. A lot of folks said
01:24 they've got a lot of things to get
01:26 done in the next couple of days to weeks.
01:29 For now, I am reporting in Miami Dade County.
01:31 I'm Leslie Hudson for Accuweather.
