01:02 Good morning to all of you and welcome to Rise and Shine Philippines
01:05 Good morning!
01:07 So Miss Maribel and Miss Lara
01:11 What is the reason why you joined all the pageants here in the Philippines
01:17 Here in Miss Cosmo World Philippines?
01:20 Because I really believe in the worthy cause of this organization which is
01:26 Women Empowerment through Financial Literacy
01:29 And as a registered marketing professional and a creative
01:33 I know that I can be a good service to the organization so that
01:37 I can help augment financial instability to make the Filipinos "Utang Free"
01:43 "Utang Free" Miss Lara?
01:45 Actually this is my first national pageant
01:49 I told myself that if I will join a national pageant
01:53 I want my values to align with the organization's values also
01:59 That is why I am here today
02:01 Just last year I was able to finance my education through online selling
02:05 And right now Miss Cosmo World Philippines is promoting
02:10 Youth Empowerment through Financial Literacy
02:13 And through my advocacy of course I could be able to promote it also
02:18 And to help with other organizations so that we can make a progressive country
02:23 Thank you!
02:24 That's great!
02:25 Everytime I interview beauty queens who joined beauty pageants
02:29 They are all best in recitation
02:31 Okay?
02:32 So we also have other beauty queens
02:36 We have Miss Lian and Miss Jasmine
02:41 And all the candidates who recently joined different trainings
02:48 Like personality development
02:51 Right?
02:52 And many more
02:54 Can you tell us about your experience here?
02:58 Well, yeah it was a 3 day fun filled and memorable experience for me
03:04 Every session we learn something
03:07 We had makeup session
03:09 How to have a grace and poise on stage
03:13 Even if you're not on stage
03:16 But for me I think my favorite would be the Pasarela training
03:20 Because that was my first time doing the duck walk
03:23 And yeah believe it or not
03:25 I think for 3 days I didn't walk
03:28 But yeah I'm actually looking forward to our next Pasarela training session
03:33 Okay, can you explain first for those who are not well versed in beauty pageants
03:38 What is the process of this?
03:39 What is Pasarela?
03:40 Pasarela is how beauty queens walk on stage
03:45 So there's a certain technique on how you can gracefully poise
03:51 And you can confidently look on stage through that proper walk
03:56 So you have different styles of walking
03:58 Like the trios, they have different walks
04:02 Lava walk
04:04 Okay, we also have Miss Jasmine
04:07 Well, she said it
04:10 Those were our activities from the past days
04:14 I think first week of August
04:16 But then again, I think for me
04:19 What I love the most about our training
04:22 Is aside from the Pasarela
04:24 Which is very painful for the body
04:26 Was the literacy training that we did
04:29 Because for the first time in the pageant training
04:33 Literacy, financial literacy, which rarely happens for a lot of beauty pageants
04:40 And I think that it is so timely
04:42 Because as independent women
04:44 Who works most of the time like freelance
04:47 It could help us really with our budgeting method
04:51 At the same time, our ways of using money wisely
04:55 Yeah, very good answer
04:57 Okay, let's go to Miss Leonel and Miss Amanda Kay
05:01 Although there's no final date yet
05:03 But we heard that the target month for the coronation night
05:06 Is October
05:08 It means you only have a month or two before the coronation night
05:12 Aside from the trainings that you do
05:15 What are the preparations that you do?
05:21 Well, for me, I make myself sure that I really go to the gym
05:26 That my membership is not wasted there
05:29 I really go there every time I don't have work and we don't have trainings
05:34 Also, I do Q&A sessions with my mentors
05:38 And at the same time, since I am from Albay
05:40 I always consult my team, my handlers
05:43 What I should do
05:44 Since this is my first time being away from them
05:47 And joining a pageant where I am really independent
05:50 So I always consult the knowledgeable people
05:53 And the people who can really help me to prepare for the national pageant
05:58 Miss Amanda, your preparation and diet regimen for this contest?
06:05 For me personally, I think the mental hurdle will definitely be my biggest obstacle
06:10 So to counteract that, I've really been reading up on my philosophies
06:15 And brushing up on my personal beliefs
06:17 To further deepen my understanding of the self
06:20 So that I can understand others as well
06:22 Now, we want to know about their advocacy
06:27 Of course, every contestant has their own advocacy
06:31 Let's start with Miss Maribel
06:33 Miss Maribel, your advocacy?
06:35 For me, as a marketing specialist and at the same time, I am a fitness enthusiast
06:41 I want to promote having a healthy lifestyle among Filipinos
06:45 So that we can be physically and emotionally stable
06:49 Healthy lifestyle, we won't be eating rice anymore
06:51 We can eat rice
06:53 But our bodies should be like that, right?
06:55 We can't eat rice
06:57 But in moderation
06:59 Miss Lara, your advocacy?
07:01 Actually, I am an advocate for mental health and LGBTQIA+ rights and health
07:09 Actually, just last June, during our Pride Month celebration in Santiago City
07:14 We were first in the region to have an anti-discriminatory ordinance based on SOGI bill
07:20 And I think that is an amazing experience and progressive chance for us
07:27 To eliminate discrimination in our society
07:31 And I also got an opportunity to do the pledge of commitment for the anti-discriminatory ordinance
07:38 So that we can protect those who are struggling
07:43 Regardless of their sexual orientation or gender expression
07:49 Those who are being bullied
07:51 And actually, we had a Malaya Symposium Pride Month
07:56 And we discussed there our HIV and AIDS awareness
08:00 And I myself went to the testing area
08:02 So that it is already a big step for me to inspire people to stop discrimination
08:09 Regardless of whatever you are having or whatever you are facing
08:13 Especially your health status
08:15 And I think that is already a beautiful journey
08:19 So that I can inspire many people, especially many cities to do the same
08:23 Those who are fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights, please fight for it Miss Lara
08:27 Okay, Miss Lian
08:31 Well, I am actually a personal advocate of children's welfare
08:36 Because I really love kids
08:38 And I find it unfair that there were those unfortunate ones
08:43 Who are trying to fight for their survival, for their daily survival
08:48 And supposedly, they just need to enjoy life
08:52 Enjoy their childhood, study, play and things like that
08:56 And as someone who is working in a development sector
08:59 We have been doing projects that focuses on children's welfare
09:04 Like empowering these people
09:06 Giving them several programs that could actually stop them from doing labor
09:12 And things like that
09:13 Since your advocacy is about children
09:15 In the future, when you have a family, how many children are you planning to have?
09:20 Well, actually it's not yet in my mind right now
09:23 Because I've never been in a relationship
09:27 I thought that because you love children, you will have ten
09:30 Okay, Miss Jasmine
09:33 Jasmine, what is your advocacy?
09:35 Okay, so I think the advocacy that I have is not just one
09:39 There are two
09:40 But I've been working with a charity that's called Kaith Foundation
09:43 A foundation who supports children who has cancer as early for five years now
09:49 And aside from that, all throughout living
09:52 As someone who has been unfortunate too as well growing up
09:56 I learned to empower kindness all throughout
09:59 And just merely helping anybody who needs help
10:02 And just smiling maybe, whatever it is that you can do
10:06 Just to lighten up their day
10:07 So that they can be happy
10:08 And actually, it feels good
10:10 I share stories about my encounters with a lot of people
10:14 Who I think somehow I learned from them
10:17 Because kindness really isn't just a one-way street
10:19 It's a two-way street
10:21 When you help another, you learn something from them
10:24 And I feel that's the most important lesson I've learned in 24 years of living
10:29 Very nice
10:30 Okay, Miss Lionel, what is your advocacy?
10:34 Well, having a brother that was diagnosed and born mute and deaf
10:38 And diagnosed with Down syndrome
10:40 I have been his protector and his savior ever since I can remember
10:45 That's why I'm an advocate for people with disability
10:48 And also as an actress and as a social media content creator
10:52 I've been using my platform to raise awareness about the mental concerns
10:57 How you can access help
11:01 And I've been raising awareness about ADHD, bipolar disorder
11:06 And how you can deal with it
11:12 And how you can seek help from the professional
11:15 Very nice
11:17 Okay, Miss Amanda, let's go to you
11:19 Tell us about your advocacy
11:21 So I'm an advocate for creative learning
11:23 Essentially creating a space for the youth to learn how to express themselves
11:27 Through multiple platforms
11:29 As an artist myself, I do have a platform where I reach to the national audience
11:35 Through the universal cable known as the internet
11:38 And I would love to teach the youth how to use their phones
11:41 How to use their gadgets to their advantage
11:43 And really make the most out of what they already have
11:46 Very nice, their advocacy is very good
11:49 But again, please invite our viewers to watch Cosmo World Philippines 2023
