It's been five years since the Northern Territory government committed to reviewing the Residential Tenancies Act, but critics say there's been slow progress in reforming rental laws which are widely considered the worst in the country. Fifty per cent of the Territory's population are renters and the peak housing body is calling on the government to finalise the review and put a better deal on the table. Meanwhile, the government says a number of changes have already been made to the Act and it's continuing to work with the Commonwealth to improve renters rights.
