00:00 Hi, it's Dan Creed and this is my wife Donna. So I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney
00:06 disease nearly 12 years ago now. So over the last 10 to 12 years my kidney function has
00:11 deteriorated down to a point where about 18 months ago it came that I needed a kidney
00:17 transplant and needed to start a testing process. And from that testing process my wife put
00:23 a name forward, not expecting to be a match to me at all, but to go into a pool where
00:27 somebody else may have matched and we could have helped somebody else and they could have
00:30 helped me. But every test that Donna went through came back as a positive match for
00:34 myself. So on the 13th of July this year I got the kidney transplant which is what they
00:40 call the gift of life. So when we went through the matching process we were told that for
00:45 Donna to be an actual match to me is something in the region of 1 in 22 million to 1. She's
00:49 got more chance of winning the lottery than having that as a match. So with every test
00:55 that we had they kept coming back as positive matches and we were just getting really hopeful
00:59 that we would be able to go ahead with the transplant. Obviously we were fully expecting
01:04 to go into the pool but things worked out absolutely brilliant and like I say it's given
01:10 us a new lease of life. We just want to really make sure that we're really promoting live
01:15 organ donation. It's a week of feeling uncomfortable just to really give somebody the gift of life
01:20 and give the whole family, their loved one back as well.
