00:12 Hi, Adam Lord here at Turf Mall this evening where we, behind me, have seen Manchester City open their season with a 3-0 victory over Burnley.
00:21 It wasn't quite as routine as it sounds. Erling Haaland scored with his first touch of the season after three minutes, of course he did, but Burnley rallied pretty well.
00:29 Then got themselves back into the game, gave City a few scares in the first half, only for City to settle things down nine minutes before the break when Haaland scored his second.
00:38 He's very much up and running for the season. City sort of controlled things from there, controlled possession a lot earlier in the second half and then added a third from Rodri 15 minutes from time.
00:49 Rodri, I have to say, was absolutely excellent tonight. Fantastic performance from the midfielder who ran the show for City really.
00:55 Haaland might take a few headlines due to his goals and the fact he had a little set-two with Pep Guardiola as the team went off for half-time.
01:05 But it was Rodri who was a star man for me. He played excellently on the night to get City up and running in style.
01:12 There was some late drama, potentially. Anna Sahoury, the Burnley player, sent off for a little lunge on Kyle Walker with VAR in the 95th minute.
01:22 Walker limped off. We're told he's OK. It was a bit of a kick, but he's not twisted anything, so he should be fine.
01:28 One player, however, who isn't OK, though, and that is the downer on the night for City, is Kevin De Bruyne, having provided the cross that initially set up the first goal of the evening.
01:39 Limped off after just 23 minutes here. Pep Guardiola just said in his post-match press conference that it is the same injury that forced him out of the Champions League final.
01:50 No prognosis on how bad the injury is particularly, but Pep Guardiola says at least a few weeks.
01:57 He was asked whether he thought it was a bit of a mistake to chuck De Bruyne back in so soon.
02:01 He said that the player himself said he felt really good, ready to go, even if he only lasted an hour or so.
02:07 That was the plan. But obviously it didn't happen. 23 minutes for De Bruyne and on came Matej Kovacic for his Premier League debut for City.
02:15 He looked very assured. De Bruyne not so good, Walker should be OK. There was no John Stones or Ruben Dias from the start.
02:23 Ruben Dias was told he had a concussion. That's seven days. He looks like he took a knock in training, but obviously he's very strict, rightly so.
02:31 Concussion rules now. So it's seven days where he can't be involved. Now, when the injury happened, we're not entirely sure.
02:36 We didn't get a prognosis on when exactly he'll be back. City, obviously, playing Sevilla and then Newcastle over the next week or so.
02:43 John Stones, his central defensive partner for so long, also wasn't involved tonight.
02:46 Potentially the absence of those two making this win all the more impressive.
02:49 Stones apparently felt a bit of an adductor issue playing a pass in training.
02:53 But again, Guardiola was told today by the club doctor that the injury felt really good.
02:59 There's not a lot to worry about. He didn't even rule him out of the Sevilla game in midweek, but said more likely it will be Newcastle for Stones to come back.
03:07 In his absence, we saw Nathan Ake come back from injury, Manwala Kanji in the back line as well, and young Rico Lewis got 80 minutes today as well.
03:17 But overall, it was very much job done for City. As I say, if you're a Burnley fan and if City fans have got an interest in Burnley's fortunes this season,
03:26 there's been some companies involved, they'll take some heart from this.
03:29 The red card late on was potentially harsh on them. And the scoreline, potentially they tested Edison, who had a good night in goal.
03:36 But City, and Erling Haaland in particular, scoring with his first touch of the season, very much picking up from where they left off last season.
