I visited Vermilion in Manchester to try their new menu & it's Indian food like you've never had before...

00:00Hi, I'm digital reporter Amy Seddon and this evening I'm testing out Manchester restaurant
00:06Vermillion's special edition menu called the Indian Summer Menu.
00:12Vermillion is a high-end glamorous Asian fusion restaurant which I've never been to before
00:17so I was glad when they reached out to me with news of their special edition menu
00:21as it gave me an excuse to go. From the outside you can only tell you're in for the VIP treatment
00:27as you walk past a pretty flower wall and various water spraying fountains.
00:36Inside is then strikingly red which makes sense when I learnt Vermillion means a brilliant shade of red.
00:43The decorations are then all red gold and black with statement pieces like huge plastic trees,
00:49a big gong and colourful Buddha heads in the centre. Before ordering we were treated to a free non-alcoholic
00:55aperitif which was bright purple and tasted lovely like sweet rice milk. For our own drinks my partner
01:02had a Bangla premium beer and I had a lemon iced tea which was refreshing. We then shared two vegetarian
01:09starters, cure cure bindi fries, basically okra fries and pav bhaji, a spicy mash of mixed vegetables.
01:17The pav bhaji was honestly one of the tastiest things I had had in my life and the okra fries
01:22were crispy and flavoursome. For mains I had a lambuna, my partner had an aubergine curry called
01:29bain gum barter and we shared pilau rice and a masala naan. The lambuna was probably the best curry
01:35I'd ever had, the tender meat melted in my mouth whilst the sauce was so rich and perfectly spiced.
01:42My partner also loved his curry and I too was impressed when I was given a spoonful to try.
01:47A special shout out also has to go to the naan which was just heavenly. Even though we were bursting at
01:54the seams we had to try the Indian summer menus trio of desserts. The moondal halwa was a nutty
02:00paste-like dish and then the peysam, made up of vermicelli and milk, tasted like horlicks and was my favourite.
02:08Finally, the kia was a creamy rice pudding with cardamom which gave one of my favourite desserts
02:14an interesting twist. Overall, I had a fantastic meal at Vermillion. The setting was fabulous and
02:20the service was impeccable but it wasn't all for show, the food lived up to the high standards all
02:25around it. The Indian summer menu truly took the Indian cuisine we all know well and elevated it for
02:31a not too elevated price. ÂŁ67 for all the food we received was more than fair enough. Now I just have
02:39to go back to try their standard menu too.
