00:00 At 2.15 this afternoon, police responded to a call of a disturbance in Brisbane Street,
00:08 Launceston between George and Tamar Street.
00:11 When police arrived, they found a man on the ground which appeared to be a stomach wound
00:18 which was bleeding.
00:19 He was being attended to by members of the public.
00:21 They also located another man, a youth, nearby who was being restrained by members of the
00:27 public.
00:28 We are currently in the stage of the investigation, however I can advise that the man who was
00:32 injured is currently at the LGH.
00:35 His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.
00:39 He is currently waiting to undergo surgery to a stomach wound.
00:43 The person we have in custody is a 17 year old male.
00:47 He is currently in custody awaiting to be interviewed.
00:50 Once we have concluded our investigation into what exactly happened with the man, then we
00:53 will be in a position to interview that youth in the presence of the government.
00:58 After that youth has been interviewed, I will be able to release information on what he
01:03 has been charged with and if he has been bailed or taken to the police.
01:08 It is still a very early stage of the investigation.
01:10 I have been to the scene and I have viewed some CCTV which indicates that there was an
01:15 altercation leading up to the wounding of the man.
01:20 But that is only a snapshot of one piece of CCTV.
01:23 We need to fully investigate other CCTV.
01:25 We are asking for anyone who may have any footage when it is on dash cam or CCTV from
01:31 the area just to let us know.

01:33 That way we can get a full picture of exactly what happened.
