00:00 Climate change is absolutely real and present today.
00:04 We saw just a fortnight ago the highest temperatures that the world has ever seen.
00:10 Three times in one week the record was exceeded.
00:12 So there's no question that this is a vital existential issue for us.
00:17 But the government's been very clear.
00:19 We've made our pledges.
00:20 We are a leading country in terms of delivering what was agreed at the Glasgow COP and last
00:25 year in Egypt as well.
00:27 I am confident that by the time we get to the UAE for the COP at the end of this year,
00:32 Britain will have a lot to say and will be leading the charge in trying to ensure that
00:36 the whole world faces up to what, as I say, is an existential crisis.
00:40 We need to strike the balance this government has struck between pursuing our net zero goals
00:46 but also in ensuring we do not impose extra costs on people.
00:51 The problem with EULAZ was that it was very badly thought through by the mayor.
00:56 did the wrong thing and that was the clear message of the voters in Uxbridge last week.
