Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer says he refuses to give into pressure from the U.S amid the ongoing Iran War. "I don't think it's in our national interest to get dragged into this war, it is in our interest to protect British lives and British allies in the Gulf region and that's what we're doing," he adds. 00:00Well firstly on defense security and intelligence we share that with the
00:07Americans 24-7 and it's really important but we must never lose sight of that
00:12whoever's the Prime Minister whoever's the president for decades now that has
00:15been a very close relationship so for defense security and intelligence it's
00:19really important. Yes of course there have been some hard discussions with
00:23President Trump but a lot of what he said is designed to put pressure on me
00:28to change my mind and to get dragged into this war but I'm not going to do so I'm
00:33the British Prime Minister and I act in the British national interest and always
00:38will so whatever the pressure whoever it's coming from I'm not going to waver
00:43on this I will put the British national interest first I don't think it's in our
00:47national interest to get dragged into this war it is in our interests to protect
00:53British lives and British interests and our allies in the Gulf region and that's
00:59what we're doing now
