China’s northernmost city of Mohe recorded a temperature of around -53 degrees Celsius at around 7am local time on Sunday (Jan 22), breaking its previous record set in 1969 at -52.3 Celsius.
A local CCTV correspondent demonstrated how cold Mohe was by cracking an egg outside on a shovel and showing it freeze within seconds on camera.
