After our food exploration in Odisha, we had a break for more than 3 months due to the rise in Covid cases once again in India. Once the things are back to normal by end of June and with the onset of Monsoon, FoodCulture planned to find some authentic cuisine very specific to this season.
The only place we have in our minds is Malenadu region in Karnataka. Malenadu translates to the land of rains. Located in the western Ghats looked to be a perfect choice for our exploration.
This time we are visiting a local family from Malenadu region and experience the Cuisine in most traditional and authentic way.
Mr. Vivek of Blink Films, cordially invited us t o his home, located in Athihally. Athihally is a remote village located in western Ghats. We stayed in his home for 3 days and experienced all the local dishes in most authentic way.
This video covers our lunch on day1. The specialty of lunch in a village is that you get all the raw materials in the garden itself and here its the same. Most of the raw materials of our lunch are from home garden and from Vivek's own farm. Not only the raw materials but fruits also.
We had the simple Malenadu lunch nothing specially prepared for us.
It's the regular lunch what this family have it everyday.
Our Lunch menu:
