National Institute of Virology (NIV) has detected a new variant B.1.1.28.2 of Kovid-19. This variant has been found in people who came to India from the United Kingdom and Brazil. The new variant can cause severe symptoms in infected people. The pathogenicity of NIV has been investigated and shown that this variant causes severe disease. In the study, whether the vaccine is effective against the variant or not, the need for screening has been told.

नैशनल इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ वायरोलॉजी (NIV) ने कोविड-19 के नए वेरिएंट B.1.1.28.2 का पता लगाया है। यह वेरिएंट यूनाइटेड किंगडम और ब्राजील से भारत आए लोगों में मिला है। नया वेरिएंट संक्रमित लोगों में गंभीर लक्षण पैदा कर सकता है। NIV के पैथोजेनिसिटी की जांच करके बताया है कि यह वेरिएंट गंभीर रूप से बीमार करता है। स्‍टडी में वेरिएंट के खिलाफ वैक्‍सीन असरदार है या नहीं, इसके लिए स्‍क्रीनिंग की जरूरत बताई गई है।
