John F. Davenport is the President of Davenport & Associates. Based in Norwalk, Connecticut, he uses his decades of financial experience to help retirees and pre-retirees with their financial futures. Davenport is a licensed insurance broker and a licensed attorney in New York and Connecticut. His professional licenses include FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, and 65.

Before starting his business, John F. Davenport set out to get his education. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his MBA in Finance from Fordham University, and his law degree from Pace University. His higher education allows Davenport to further help clients through the expertise gathered from his professors.

Davenport worked as a corporate officer for TIAA-CREF, an attorney for a large estate planning firm, an Executive Vice President, and a Wealth Planner for Merrill Lynch before 1997. To this day, he uses the skills from his previous occupations to further his career.

In 1997, John F. Davenport founded Davenport & Associates. The company’s primary focus is to maximize incomes for clients who have spent their lives building significant life savings. The interactions between clients and brokers typically compare growth investments that the client has to better ones that the firm can offer. At Davenport & Associates, he and his team position different assets to create a cohesive purpose.

The purpose Davenport & Associates creates relies on four objectives: maximizing income, maximizing legacies, minimizing taxes, and direct social capital.

John F. Davenport and his team make maximized retirement income as tax efficient as possible. They also maximize legacies to help clients transfer wealth without adverse impacts on their retirement. Following that, Davenport’s team minimizes, if not outright eliminates, estate, income, and capital gain taxes. Finally, the team assists their clients in directing social capital to charities of the client’s choosing.

In addition to his work with Davenport & Associates, John F. Davenport serves as a member of the Connecticut and New York State Bar Associations and is a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association. In 2006, Davenport won the Forbes small business award, and Davenport & Associates was featured in the May 2020 issue of Forbes magazine. Davenport is also the author of a wealth planning book titled “The Wealth Maximization Method.”
