PENITENTS' PRAYER
Penitents line up outside a closed Quiapo Church in Manila on Good Friday, April 2, 2021. Churches in the National Capital Region (NCR) were closed for the Holy Week amid a surge in Covid-19 infections. These devotees walk the streets as part of Lenten tradition, whipping themselves in a Good Friday ritual called Penitensya or Penitence to atone for their sins and to emulate the suffering of Jesus Christ.
