Philippines hosts Cambodian, Thai leaders for 'candid' peace talks at Asean

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. hosts Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul for trilateral talks at the Asean summit in Cebu on May 8, 2026. The Thai and Cambodian leaders said they have agreed to work towards a lasting peace that would end a decades-long border dispute.

01:00between Cambodia and Thailand although they have both reaffirmed their importance of maintaining
01:07open communication exercising restraint avoiding actions that may escalate tensions
01:14and continuing efforts towards peaceful dialogue and constructive engagement
01:20today Prime Minister Nuttin and I have just met with a collective resolve for lasting peace
01:30our discussions focus on the escalations and trust building measures to restore and consolidate
01:36a functioning framework for lasting peace and renormalize relations moving forward we have
01:44tasked our two foreign ministers to engage in further discussions in detail and carry them forward
01:50in a practical and result-oriented manner just like the president has mentioned
01:55I just had a frank and candid discussion with Prime Minister Hoon Manet
02:01we both reaffirm that we will jointly endeavor to work towards peace through dialogue
