Few questions about the new open carry law going into effect.

Where can I carry my gun openly?
You can carry a gun openly anywhere that you could before is a concealed carry holder. That means you can carry it down public streets in businesses that aren't posted.

Where can I not carry my gun?
I think the important thing to remember is that the law didn't change where and where you cannot carry. The only thing that changed is that you can openly carry so if it was a place that you could not carry before such as a school or a courthouse.

What if I see someone carrying a gun?
I think the main thing that license holders need to understand and the public needs to understand that the law change allows somebody who already had a concealed handgun license to now openly carries. So if that person is doing that, and they're not doing anything suspicious or anything else in the law allows that the main thing that everybody needs to know is that the same requirements are in place for open carry as they were for concealed carry, such as the background checks. I think the bottom line is common sense should prevail.

So licensed to carry means I can carry on carry concealed either one?
If you carry it open has to be in a belt holster or shoulder holster.

What is some kind of prerequisites that would be helpful for anybody that wants to take an LTC class?
We'd like them to be able to do the well first thing you need to be familiar with your firearm. This is not a learn how to shoot a handgun course. It is a course for you to prove to the state of Texas, that you're safe and that you're competent with a firearm. We cover safety, we cover deadly force laws, we've covered carry laws, and then you do a shooting proficiency you shoot 50 rounds for proficiency to prove to the state that you're saying.

So if I'm a first-time gun owner just bought a firearm a week ago, what would you suggest I do prior to to taking the LTC course gift?
We have excellent instructors and they can get you very competent and very comfortable with your handgun.

Now, are there limitations on firearms or caliber or anything like that when it comes to LTC?
Not anymore. It does have to be a handgun. You have to use open sights. You can't use optics or red dots or anything like that you have to be proficient with iron sights.

Is this LTC required to buy a gun, I need to have an LTC to purchase a firearm not in Texas?
You do not need an LTC to buy it. But if you do have an LTC, you've already accomplished your background checks and they know your history. So you don't have to go through the National instant check system.
