LAHORE: A team of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Sunday claimed to have killed two alleged kidnappers of Shahbaz Taseer, son of the slain Punjab Chief Minister Salman Taseer, and four other suspected militants during an ‘encounter’ near Sheikhupura.
According to the CTD officials, they conducted an overnight raid late on Saturday following a tip-off to their department.
In all, three of the killed militants were later identified, including two brothers, Sajid Khan and Riaz Hussain, who were also involved in the kidnapping of Shahbaz Taseer, revealed CTD officials.
The CTD officials further said that the pair of brothers belonged to the Jamrud area of Khyber agency, a tribal area in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) region of the country.
They said a third militant was also identified as Haji Muhammad.
