Following meetings between labor unions, business associations, and the government, it was announced that Argentina's minimum wage would be increased. More than 300,000 workers will benefit from the 28.5% increase, to US$660 monthly. The minimum wage has risen 3,000% in the past 12 years, part of the government's strategy to strengthen domestic demand and boost the living standards of the poorest paid workers.
