00:43including the crisis in Gaza.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesource Studios in Habana,
00:54Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:07In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro accused the United States of violating the 1967 Platelol
01:13Treaty, which declared Latin America and the Caribbean nuclear weapons-free zones.
01:18The head of state warned that the international community about Washington's aggressive actions
01:23and said they undermined the peace of Latin America and the Caribbean.
01:27Maduro also affirmed that Venezuela will not accept any supremacist attitude from anyone nor
01:33any interference in the region.
01:36The head of state prized the international solidarity with Venezuela and highlighted in contrast the
01:41isolation of the U.S. government's aggressive policy.
01:48Venezuela, here in South America, a land of peace, and with great goals with Africa, Europe, Eurasia,
01:59Asia, etc. Venezuela is a country admired in the world, loved in the world, not only by governments,
02:07which are showing an impressive example of solidarity toward us, especially now after Venezuela was
02:14threatened with a nuclear submarine, violating the Tlatelolco Treaty, which prohibits the mobilization,
02:20use, and manufacture of nuclear weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean.
02:26Venezuela is receiving an impressive example of global solidarity.
02:32Let's review what the Tlatelolco Treaty is about.
02:37It stands as one of the most pioneering peace and disarmament agreements globally signed in 1967.
02:45In Mexico City, this treaty declares Latin America and the Caribbean a nuclear weapons-free zone.
02:50Its fundamental objective is to guarantee regional security by strictly prohibiting the development,
02:57acquisition, testing, storage, and possession of nuclear weapons in all countries of the region.
03:03It was decisively promoted by the Mexican Ambassador and Nobel Peace Prize winner Alfonso García Robles.
03:10The treaty not only strengthened peace and security in the region, but also served as an inspiring model
03:16for the creation of other nuclear weapons-free zones around the world, consolidating Latin America's legacy as a continent of peace.
03:29In this context, Cuba has rejected the deployment of U.S. military ships in the Caribbean Sea, warning that it threatens regional peace.
03:36Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez stated that the United States' dispatch of additional military ships to the Caribbean poses a significant threat to regional peace and aims to reassert its dominance over our hemisphere under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.
03:54This move is driven by the agenda of corrupt politicians such as the Secretary of State.
04:06The Venezuela Ministry of Defense announces the results of the operation of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces in response to U.S. aggressions against the country.
04:14Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino highlighted the people's response to President Nicolás Maduro's call to arms in defense of the homeland.
04:22He also described the day as a success in the face of the media counter-revolution, which creates lies with the aim of making people believe that the country functions as an arco-state.
04:33Padrino Lopez emphasized that the country remains firm and is working to combat any aggression.
04:43We saw this past weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, even with the haste and the short time we had to organize ourselves to respond to that call, that the people took to the streets with their smile, with their strength, with their testimonies.
05:04Because it was not simply a matter of signing a form and saying here I am, with my body, with my soul, with my mind, to defend the homeland.
05:17They also took to the streets to strongly reject.
05:24As you know dear brothers, comrades, vice ministers, also the Inspector General of the Armed Forces who are here with me today, they came out to reject with firm determination.
05:38Venezuela's defense minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez also described as false the media campaign against the Venezuelan people that seeks to destabilize the country.
05:49And there, always, the counter-revolutionary media, making it look like the opposite.
05:59Always creating, always walking in their lies, in their fake news, in their manipulations. It's absurd. It's like what the North American imperialism is trying to do to us.
06:14The people of Venezuela, trying to fabricate a lie that has very, very short legs, and impose a criminal narrative on us, and position it throughout the world, and even on the people of Venezuela, so that they will believe that this is how the state functions.
06:37The Venezuelan state does not function as a narco state.
06:44How grotesque, how vulgar, and how far we are from such a situation. We have to say this with great humility, but it is the reality.
06:56Thank you very much.
06:57Thank you, Pat.
06:58Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received two credentialed letters from the new ambassadors of Belarus and Cambodia.
07:03The ceremonies took place at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas, marking the beginning of new representation terms of both diplomats in the Bolivarian nation.
07:11Belarus and Cambodia are both strategic partners of Venezuela, and the new diplomats reiterated their government's commitment to continue strengthening their bilateral relations with the South American country.
07:23The Venezuelan President also received the credentialed letters from the new ambassadors from the Ivory Coast, Damautene Alassaneisi, Hungary Daniel Seksiand, and a Serbian Ruslan Oglu.
07:41All three nations have traditionally held relations with the Bolivarian nation based on the principles of respect, solidarity, and brotherhood.
07:55In this regard, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro thanked the representatives of the five nations for their government's cooperation with Venezuela. Let's listen.
08:05We have been working on the entire diplomatic agenda, directly expressing our gratitude for all the cooperation with Venezuela, establishing joint work agendas for economic and commercial development, to bring investments in for human cultural approachment with all countries.
08:24And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates, and more. We'll be right back, stay with us.
08:36Welcome back to From the South.
08:50Argentina President Javier Milley was booed and rejected Wednesday during his failed attempt to organize an electoral caravan to the south of the Conurbano.
09:00The reaction against the president comes in the context of a scandal that is shaking the government in relation to a bribe accusation involving the National Disability Agency.
09:11The ejection also takes place amid a strong political crisis of the government due to economy mismanagement, a growing recession hitting white sectors of the Argentinian society, and repeated parliamentary defeats.
09:25Corruption scandal in the national disability agency affects the image and credibility of the president of Argentina, Javier Milley.
09:36The latest polls reveal that 86% of Argentines consider that there is corruption in the national government and believe that the president's sister, Carina Milley, is implicated.
09:46According to the survey, only 11% of the citizens defend the government and believe that the opposition seeks to weaken Javier Milley in the electoral framework.
09:56Millions of Argentines have shown their indignation with the recently released denunciations which point to Milley's sister and right hand in government as the leader of a corruption scheme profiting from funds from the National Disability Agency.
10:11A shooting took place at a school in the United States resulting in several deaths including children.
10:21According to Minnesota Governor Tim Wells, the shooting occurred at a Catholic school in Minneapolis while students were returned into the building.
10:30Wells emphasized that the authorities are at the scene to begin their investigation and establish the facts.
10:36Three deaths have been reported so far including that of the attacker who took his own life while 20 others were injured including five children.
10:49Pakistan reported Wednesday the evacuation of more than 200,000 people due to torrential rains in the border areas with India.
11:09Mass evacuations began early this week in six districts of Punjab province following heavier than normal monsoon rains and the overflowing of dams in neighbouring India.
11:21Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif ordered to speed up rescue operations, intensify surveillance, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid and appeal for more support from the international community.
11:34According to Pakistani health authorities, the current rainy season has left around 800 people dead since late June.
11:46Rescue operations continue on Wednesday in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir after heavy rains caused a massive landslide.
11:54The incident left 34 people dead and more than 20 injured, many of them pilgrims.
12:00Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his regret at the loss of lives and confirmed that his administration is providing the necessary assistance to those affected.
12:10Authorities have evacuated thousands of people from low-lying areas as the Tawi and Chennapp rivers have reached dangerously high water levels.
12:20The situation has also led to a collapse in transportation and communications infrastructure.
12:26Forecasters say rain will continue across the region this week.
12:34And the Spanish village of Buñol open Wednesday the 78th edition of the La Tormentina, the most important event of Patron Saint festivities.
13:02The event is characterized by participants throwing tomatoes at each other in what is considered the biggest food fight in the world.
13:11The festival brings together tens of thousands of people and has become a famous tourist attraction.
13:17The tomatoes used are not for suitable consumption and are grown especially for the event.
13:24During the day before the fight, a paella contest is held near the town square as well as tomato fireworks and music and parades around the medieval city centre.
13:35Around 22,000 people from different countries are expected to participate in this year's event with near 120 tons of tomatoes at their disposal.

14:22Welcome back to From the South.
14:37The United Nations Security Council discussed Wednesday the situation in the Middle East,
14:42including the crisis in Gaza.
14:44The Palestinian representative to the International Organization, Richard Mansour,
14:48accused the Israeli regime of starving thousands of Gazans to death
14:53by restricting the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave.
14:57Mansour denounced the genocide carried out by the Syrian regime in the area
15:01and called the current situation in Gaza as a hell on earth.
15:05The Palestinian representative also called for the immediate end of hostilities in the enclave,
15:10the safe and speedy resumption of humanitarian access,
15:15and the promotion of an agreement to make Palestine an independent state free of Israel.
15:20...for nearly eight years.
15:24The world was witness to Israelis' execution of civilians in broad dateline.
15:33The second strike on Nasser's hospital was a premeditated strike on medics and journalists
15:42who arrived at the scene after the first strike.
15:46This is not a war.
15:49These are atrocities committed against an entire civilian population.
15:55We need real pressure to stop the flood of suffering and start the flood of humanitarian aid into Gaza,
16:05to restore the United Nations presence, including honor in the occupied Palestinian territory,
16:12and restore humanity to humanitarian aid to save millions of people,
16:19and to let the healing of the unimaginable loss, pain and trauma to begin.
16:27Gaza is hell on earth, but Gaza is the biggest storage place of pain, suffering, blood, tears, and agony.
16:39Social organizations in Palestine launched a blood donation campaign
16:44in response to the shortage of blood in Gaza and hospitals.
16:47According to Palestinian health authorities, the situation is worsening,
16:51following the repeated Israeli bombings that leave dozens of people injured every day,
16:56most of whom need large amounts of blood.
16:59On the other hand, they claimed that the Israeli food blockade directly worsened the situation,
17:05as it increased the cases of people facing severe famine.
17:15In Palestine, medical sources in the Gaza Strip recorded 10 marked deaths from acute malnutrition in the last 24 hours,
17:22amid a tight Israeli aid blockade.
17:24The figure, which includes two children, brings the total number of hunger-related deaths in the street to 313,
17:32as the humanitarian crisis in the enclave worsens, as the Tel Aviv regime continues to block access to food and medical supplies.
17:39In this context, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees in the Near East warned
17:46that malnutrition in children under 5 doubled between March and June 2025.
17:52Moreover, international human rights organizations confirmed that the establishment rate in Gaza has reached alarming levels.
18:00Airdrops of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip continue amid popular rejection of this distribution method.
18:11The Palestinian authorities have denounced the restrictions imposed by Israeli forces
18:16on the entry of thousands of tons of food, resulting in an 86% shortfall in requested aid.
18:23They also warned that the humanitarian situation is deteriorating and famine is spreading.
18:28They urged the international community and Arab countries to take immediate action,
18:33and pressured Israel to open the border crossings and allow urgent entry of humanitarian aid to save the lives of millions of civilians.
18:46In Sudan, the United Nations Children's Fund denounced that the region of Al-Fashir has been under siege for 500 days,
18:53which has triggered famine in the population.
18:56In a statement, UNICEF reported that more than 260,000 civilians have been trapped in the city,
19:03seized for more than a year without any aid.
19:06The organization specified that more than 1,000 children have died or been injured
19:11since the clashes began in the capital of North Darfur state,
19:15warning that malnutrition and cholera also threaten infants.
19:19In this context, the international body called for an end to the violence in the region and for food aid to be allowed in,
19:26since humanitarian agencies have not been able to access the area.
