Ecuador's indigenous and campesino organizations are meeting and signing agreements with the Central University and the government to boost agricultural production and quality. The agreements include authorities' obligation to facilitate the sale of such locally grown products in major supermarket chains, which are currently required to dedicate 15% of their inventory to such items. The Central University, in turn, will provide the necessary technical support to the rural communities. Liz Scherffius reports.
