Venezuela Moves Against Organized Crime

The Venezuelan government announced it was increasing its measures against organized crime and paramilitary activity. In the past 48 hours, at least 7 criminal gangs have been dismantled in what is known as Operation Freedom and Protection. The campaign involves 900 security agents who have thus far made 200 arrests. Interior Minister Gustavo Gonzalez said the paramilitaries, many of whom come from Colombia, often pass as common criminals. teleSUR
