Peru has the lowest percentage of investment in education out of all countries participating in the Copa America tournament. A recent public awareness campaign, "Fundación Sol," was launched in coordination with the beginning of the soccer championship, and reveals how Peru ranks last in the percentage of GDP invested in public education, only 3.3 percent. Politicians call for higher investment, but when it comes to raising teachers’ salaries or repairing schools, they are more concerned with cutting taxes for multinational corporations.
