00:01The Cuban government issued Thursday a resolution that updates and extends tax benefits to those
00:05who use and import technologies associated with renewable energy sources.
00:09The resolution maintains tariff exemptions for the importation of solar portable tech
00:13systems, solar heaters, wind turbines, and other equipment in a context marked by Washington's
00:17escalate integration against Havana.
00:19Among the most relevant measures is the exemption from income tax and personal income tax for
00:25up to 8 years and for the amount of the investment for those who install renewable systems for
00:30self-consumption or deliver energy to the national power grid.
00:43Individuals engaged in economic activity such as self-employed workers, farmers, artists,
00:49and intellectuals who are currently taxpayers because they are subject to income tax are
00:54exempt from the application of personal income tax when they make investments in renewable
00:58energy sources.
00:59They are exonerated from the application of the income tax on the income tax, not only
01:08those associated with these imports.
01:10In other words, the scope of the resolution goes to those people mentioned who may be subject
01:15to exemption from paying personal income tax whether they use the energy source for self-consumption
01:28or for that of the national electric system when they have a capacity to do so.
01:33That was established since 2023 in the resolution 268 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices.
