A name has been given to a new species of frog found in Ecuador’s cloud forest. The official name of this frog that can change the texture of its skin within minutes to ward off predators is Pristimantis mutabilis, or “mutable rain frog.” Biologists say the frog is not easy to find because of its size and its ability to change colors, which makes it hard to study its habits and population. Ecuador has the third greatest diversity of amphibians globally, following Brazil and Colombia. teleSUR
