The dissident radical teachers movement in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca moved to implement its call for a boycott of this Sunday's mid-term elections, by attacking and setting fire to local Electoral Institute offices and destroying ballots and other materials to be used on election day. The Electoral Institute is in charge of organizing Sunday's vote. The teachers said that they would seize the 11 local Electoral Institute offices in the state. The call for a boycott has also been taken up by the families of the 43 missing Ayotzinapa students and social organizations in the state of Guerrero, who have similarly vowed to prevent Sunday's elections from taking place. teleSUR
