The Facellia was an ambitious undertaking when it was launched in 1959. It was planned as a rival to Porsche and Alfa Romeo, with a sales target of 2,000 units a year. But the plans of its young manufacturer, Facel, went badly wrong. A large number of the engines failed, costing Facel warranty repairs, reputation, and eventually its existence.
