The African Union has approved a draft decision to grant leaders immunity before a continental court. The draft resolution was passed during last month's AU summit in Equatorial Guinea, prompting outrage from rights groups. Immunity will be granted to sitting heads of state at the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights, but the tribunal won't be in operation for several years.
