00:00:00The End
00:00:34The End
00:01:06I got a story to tell, a yarn about cow country and cow punchers, cattle and men.
00:01:13I was working for the Strobey Ranch, learning my trade.
00:01:16A trade of worn leather saddle blisters and brandon irons.
00:01:20A trade with some song, some fun, some blood.
00:01:24It was as good a job as a man could ask for.
00:01:27Lonely sometimes, cold, so much distance you thought you'd never get back.
00:01:33But for me, a young kid, it was a fine time.
00:01:36Memories are mostly good.
00:01:38You're up there on top of the world where the air was clear and thin.
00:01:42The only sound was the wind in the pines.
00:01:46We were in the business of growing beef.
00:01:48Always moving the cattle, looking for new feed.
00:01:52They were those new, bald-faced herefords.
00:01:55Not like the longhorns, wild and spooky, but friendly critters.
00:02:00Gentle as a dog.
00:02:02Seasons melted away, peaceful.
00:02:04From spring to summer, fall.
00:02:07Then winter.
00:02:09Cows had to look out for themselves in the snow.
00:02:12The winter drift.
00:02:14Soon as a man on horseback could get around, they'd go out and locate the cattle.
00:02:19Spot them for the spring roundup.
00:02:22They'd come back from the winter drift, cold and worn out.
00:02:27Our foreman was Owen Daybright.
00:02:29He knew what he was doing.
00:02:31We all liked him.
00:02:33And there was his foster brother, Lee Strobey.
00:02:37Their father roamed the ranch.
00:02:40The night they got back, the trouble began.
00:02:46Well, look what's turned up.
00:02:48Hiya, Cal.
00:02:49People still drink whiskey?
00:02:50Hiya, Lee.
00:02:51Beat town to my shoes.
00:02:53That's what comes from working for someone you've known too long, Lee.
00:03:01See my wife this winter?
00:03:02Jen come in town a couple of times with your old man.
00:03:06How'd Arch look?
00:03:07Oh, just fair, I'd say.
00:03:08Cold weather always seems to bother him.
00:03:10How'd Jen look?
00:03:11The way to find that out is go home and see for yourself.
00:03:15Yeah.
00:03:16Can I borrow your razor, Cal?
00:03:17I don't want to scare her in the back.
00:03:19Keeping you busy, Doc?
00:03:21The night doesn't go by.
00:03:22I've been trying to get him all day for that girl that used to work at the Eaton house.
00:03:26Lily?
00:03:28I wouldn't know her name.
00:03:33What's her trouble, Doc?
00:03:35Oh, small variety.
00:03:37About that big.
00:03:39Arrived a couple hours ago, they'd tell me.
00:03:43You wouldn't go?
00:03:44That's right.
00:03:46I don't take calls like this until I hear from the father.
00:03:50And that isn't likely.
00:04:03There's a rifle on you, cowboy.
00:04:08Get down and walk over here so I can see where you are.
00:04:12Get down now.
00:04:20Owen.
00:04:21Is that you?
00:04:22Yeah.
00:04:24Put that gun down.
00:04:26It's a friend.
00:04:41What are you doing here?
00:04:43Helping.
00:04:44Nobody else would come.
00:04:46So I heard.
00:04:48How's Lee?
00:04:50Wanting to see you.
00:04:52I'll be home as soon as she's asleep.
00:04:58Who's he?
00:05:00Her brother, Dick Faskin, from out of town.
00:05:03He spent the day looking for the man.
00:05:06Lily, all right?
00:05:14You've got company, Lily.
00:05:23Hello, Owen.
00:05:24Lily.
00:05:31Pen size.
00:05:33And beautiful.
00:05:36Good color, too.
00:05:38Yes.
00:05:43The doctor wouldn't come.
00:05:46Jen came instead.
00:05:48Don't you even think about it, Lily.
00:05:49Not now.
00:05:52I'm really pretty lucky, Owen.
00:05:55I couldn't face up going back to the restaurant to work.
00:06:00Mrs. Birkoff would just work out at her place when I'm ready for it.
00:06:05We're grateful, too.
00:06:07Well, it sounds queer to say it here and now, but he'll have a good life, Owen.
00:06:16I'm sure he will, Lily.
00:06:20I'm sure he will.
00:06:20I'm sure he'll have a good life.
00:06:21I'm sure he'll have a good life.
00:06:43Coffee?
00:06:47Thanks.
00:06:58You've seen me before, Owen.
00:07:00There's been a change. Somebody washed your face and got you a new dress.
00:07:03Arch. And a tub in my own room.
00:07:07I bathe every day now.
00:07:09It's an improvement.
00:07:12How was the winter?
00:07:15Well, we stayed alive and we kept the cattle alive.
00:07:18We were snowing at the ranch. Didn't see our nearest neighbor in nearly five weeks.
00:07:24We missed you, Owen.
00:07:32I brought Lily some grub.
00:07:35Owen.
00:07:38Who was it?
00:07:41Good night, Jane.
00:07:48Older than that.
00:07:56You live in these parts?
00:07:57Around here.
00:07:59Who's the father?
00:08:02That'd be Lily's business, wouldn't it?
00:08:03I'll find out.
00:08:04Sure.
00:08:06I'll find out if it takes me a lifetime.
00:08:08Fine.
00:08:09It's a nice country to live in.
00:08:10Good night, Jane.
00:08:29I'm sorry.
00:08:30Come on.
00:08:31Come on.
00:08:36Who was I?
00:08:39Owen Daybright?
00:08:42Your husband's foster brother, ain't he?
00:08:44That's right.
00:08:47How much?
00:08:49Five hundred dollars. He brought this food, too.
00:08:53Why?
00:08:56You're wrong. He's good.
00:08:59And there's no one else around here like him.
00:09:05Not again.
00:09:11And he keeps his ace as a kicker and he draws to it every time. Three times.
00:09:16Mr. Kicker.
00:09:17It's a game of chance, boys.
00:09:23We'll play again sometime, eh?
00:09:34I ran your errand.
00:09:36Thanks, Owen.
00:09:37It's paid for.
00:09:38You pay for a coat.
00:09:40I appreciate it.
00:09:42This isn't the first time you saved my hide.
00:09:45Why don't you grow up, boy?
00:09:48Look, it happens.
00:09:50I sleep good.
00:09:54Your wife was there.
00:09:56Does she have any idea?
00:09:58No.
00:10:01It happened before I met Jen.
00:10:04Even so, she wouldn't understand it. You know what she's like.
00:10:07Why should I know what she's like?
00:10:09Well, that's right. You don't.
00:10:12She's what all the others weren't.
00:10:15She's everything I ever wanted for myself.
00:10:19It's been a long time. Let's get back to the ranch.
00:10:22Stand where you're at, Daybright.
00:10:24You.
00:10:25Move away.
00:10:33You brought Lily $500.
00:10:39That's right.
00:10:41Don't you need it?
00:10:42Not that kind.
00:10:44That wasn't grub money. It was get out of town money.
00:10:48I'll ask you one time.
00:10:50Was it yours?
00:10:52Point that gun to the floor, son, and turn around.
00:11:04There'll be other times.
00:11:05You're a conclusion jumper, my friend. I don't like them.
00:11:08Quit it, Owen.
00:11:08I'll handle this myself, Count.
00:11:10Not as long as I'm sheriff.
00:11:13All right, Count.
00:11:18You've scared me twice tonight.
00:11:20Next time you point a gun at me, shoot it.
00:11:46Let's go.
00:11:53Yeah.
00:12:09Well, welcome home, boys.
00:12:11How are you, Arch?
00:12:12You look fit, son.
00:12:13How are you, Owen?
00:12:14Good.
00:12:14How's the leg?
00:12:15He's got the misery.
00:12:16Same as the fat.
00:12:16It was every wonder for 20 years.
00:12:18Evening, boys.
00:12:18Hello, Mr. Willoughby.
00:12:20Thought you might want some hot coffee, Arch.
00:12:22Well, thank you, Mr. Willoughby.
00:12:24Same old dishwater?
00:12:27You don't want any, huh?
00:12:28No, I'm just kidding.
00:12:31Watch your language.
00:12:33How's the bad stomach?
00:12:35Owen, some days I doubt if I'll make it till sundown.
00:12:39Why don't you stop beating your own cooking?
00:12:41Oh, I'm stuck here. Can't help it.
00:12:50Watch, these cigars ain't from Pittsburgh.
00:12:53Kansas City.
00:12:56Place sure isn't going downhill fast.
00:13:02How'd it go?
00:13:04Ask the foreman.
00:13:05I just took orders.
00:13:09You got a wife waiting for you.
00:13:11I hadn't forgotten.
00:13:14I'll look in on her.
00:13:17Good night.
00:13:18Good night, son.
00:13:19Good night, Lee.
00:13:21Boy looks trim.
00:13:24Nobody could have worked harder this winter.
00:13:26He's got a lot to make up for.
00:13:30He'll come round.
00:13:31Maybe Jen has something to do with it.
00:13:35Anyway, he can handle it alone now.
00:13:37Well, it sounds like you're giving no to someone.
00:13:42Well, Lee's married now.
00:13:44Jen's a fine daughter for you.
00:13:46I'm just crowding the place.
00:13:48Oh, if you're not comfortable here...
00:13:49I'm not forgetting, Arch.
00:13:51You've done everything you could to make me belong.
00:13:53When you picked me up, I was just a stray orphan.
00:13:57Foul-mouthed and flea-bitten 15 years ago.
00:13:59It's been a long time. A good time.
00:14:02Now it's time for me to go.
00:14:05You really mean it.
00:14:07Well, I want to push on. Try my own wings.
00:14:10Owen.
00:14:14How do I say this?
00:14:17When I took you, it was for Lee.
00:14:20I couldn't get around outside and raise my own boys,
00:14:23so I picked you to do it for me.
00:14:24What I didn't know then was...
00:14:27that I needed you, too.
00:14:30Need you now.
00:14:38All right, Arch.
00:14:43I was just hitting you for a raise, anyhow.
00:14:48Good night.
00:14:49Good night.
00:14:52Jen, will you hurry up and come on out?
00:14:57I don't know why all of a sudden you can't get dressed in front of me.
00:15:00I'll be two more minutes, Lee.
00:15:03On top of all winter, that's a long time.
00:15:05I know that.
00:15:07Better than you.
00:15:10You mean you've missed me?
00:15:13Of course.
00:15:27You're beautiful.
00:15:29Do you think so, Lee?
00:15:31Do you really mean it?
00:15:33The first time I saw you, you were wearing a pair of split breeches.
00:15:38And you helped me come out of the back country.
00:15:41You and Arch.
00:15:44This is the second Sunday dress I ever owned, Lee.
00:15:48The first one I wore to my mother's funeral,
00:15:50and then I used it to bury my father,
00:15:52and then I burned it.
00:15:56And now you're a lady of fashion, huh?
00:16:00Well, that's...
00:16:01that's what it says in Godey's ladies' book.
00:16:09I haven't done many smart things in my life.
00:16:11But marrying you is one of them.
00:16:14We'll be happy, Lee.
00:16:17Nothing can stop us, honey.
00:16:31Check in the last pole.
00:16:43Check in the last pole.
00:16:44Where have you been?
00:16:48Morning, Mr. Willoughby.
00:16:49Morning, Owen. Nice to see a real man back again.
00:16:53Oh, thanks, Mr. Willoughby.
00:16:54Morning, real man.
00:16:56That nasty old noise wake you up,
00:16:58or were you waiting for the sun to hit your dimple cheeks?
00:17:02You Sunday men haven't lost any sleep in so long,
00:17:04you've forgotten what you go to bed for.
00:17:06Mr. Willoughby's buttering the formula.
00:17:10All right, all right. I slept late.
00:17:13Why is it, though, when a man's out on the range all by himself
00:17:15and eating his own cooking, he looks forward to getting up for breakfast?
00:17:17Well, because when he's home, he lies there
00:17:19and has to figure out if it's worth the bellier getting up for.
00:17:23You ain't under contract with this outfit, Esther Lee.
00:17:26Any time my cooking gets so bad that you've got to go hungry,
00:17:29Art will give you your time before you know what gave you the miseries.
00:17:32That's telling her, Mr. Willoughby.
00:17:33No offense, sir. Mr. Willoughby accepts your apology.
00:17:36I do.
00:17:37I'm sure there's no hard feelings. How about another cup of coffee?
00:17:40Sure.
00:17:43I have to move you, Sheriff. Taking the senses again?
00:17:47Yeah. I like to see who comes and who goes.
00:18:12Hello, Hub.
00:18:14I got you a letter a week ago. You're my uncle.
00:18:19How's Lily?
00:18:20She's doing all right.

00:18:26The law.
00:18:35Brothers, ain't you?
00:18:37I'm gonna kill a man before I leave here.
00:18:39Anybody special or what I do?
00:18:42I don't know the man yet, but I will.
00:18:43Keep an eye on me. The name is Faskin.
00:18:47Where are the horses?
00:18:48Behind the depot.
00:19:08Faskin boys were looking for Lily.
00:19:11They heard she'd been taken in and given a home by a widow woman named a Mrs. Burke,
00:19:15who owned a ranch nearby.
00:19:30We're looking for Lily. We're her brothers.
00:19:32I didn't know Lily had this much family. Never said a word.
00:19:36Maybe she's ashamed of us.
00:19:37Not Lily. She's not that kind.
00:19:39She's in her room.
00:19:45I'll call her.
00:19:46Never mind. That's the room.
00:19:56So you sent for him?
00:19:58The reason's over there.
00:20:06I didn't ask for you to come.
00:20:09I didn't ask for you to come, do you hear?
00:20:11We're this kind of family.
00:20:14We don't waste any love on each other.
00:20:15We've fought amongst ourselves. We've even shattered each other.
00:20:19We've got one tie. We're blood relations.
00:20:22Go away, hug.
00:20:25Go away.
00:20:27You want to marry your own day bride, Lily?
00:20:31I don't want him and I don't want you.
00:20:33I'll manage myself without any help.
00:20:46No.
00:20:53Daybright knows something.
00:20:54If he can't talk when I get through with him, he'll write the name with his feet.

00:25:23Protecting him
00:25:24Letting his dirt rub off on you
00:25:27Maybe
00:25:28And I'm thinking of Jen
00:25:30And all she's done for me
00:25:32And that's why I can't tell
00:25:35So we'll both keep it a secret
00:25:38Lily, it ain't right that you should
00:25:40Owen, I've been afraid of a lot of things this past winter
00:25:43What people would say about me
00:25:45How I'd raise a baby
00:25:49How I'd keep us both alive
00:25:52Well now it's happened
00:25:53And I'm not afraid anymore
00:25:57I'm not glad it happened, I was wrong, I know that
00:26:03I'm just not afraid of living anymore
00:26:10Dave right here
00:26:12In the house
00:26:19Start walking to that shed over there
00:26:22Why?
00:26:23You won't get hurt if you don't break for the house
00:26:26Go on
00:26:42What is this?
00:26:44You bought your ticket, you'll see
00:26:45Sit down

00:27:05Dave right
00:27:08So you're sent for big brother
00:27:13Why don't I remind myself to pack a gun when I visit my neighbors
00:27:17That money was yours, Dave right?
00:27:19Oh it was, huh?
00:27:20That baby's gonna need a name
00:27:22Yours
00:27:29You want another helping?
00:27:35Come on
00:27:36Pull the trigger
00:27:38First you shoot me and then you gotta shoot Huey because he saw you
00:27:42Then you'll have to shoot Mrs. Burke and your own sister because they'll see you
00:27:46Well come on
00:27:47Pull the trigger
00:27:48Quit it all and he'll do it
00:27:49I don't think he's got the guts
00:27:55Put that down
00:27:56Put that gun down big brother
00:27:57You won't use it
00:27:59And I'll break your arm if you keep it
00:28:06Let's drop the cell
00:28:16Turn
00:28:17You won't die
00:28:18You won't start
00:28:27Let's sometime
00:28:27You just think I'll bring my on
00:28:28magical
00:28:30Let's nak
00:28:33Get up, Hub.
00:28:34Dick, put that gun down.
00:28:37Well, go ahead, cut down on her.
00:28:39She's only your sister.
00:28:40You gotta kill somebody.
00:28:43Be careful who you poke in the belly.
00:28:45Huey, that's enough.
00:28:47Whatever you say, Lily.
00:28:49All right, Hub, this is still our dance.
00:28:51No, Owen.
00:28:53Haven't I made enough trouble for myself?
00:28:55For my baby?
00:28:56You want to add murder, too?
00:28:59You want to take them to the street?
00:29:00Sheriff, if you need someone to sign the complaint,
00:29:02I'll do it.
00:29:05All right, Lily.
00:29:06You got the right.
00:29:08Come on.
00:29:13Go on.
00:29:19Here are the lazy W's for sale.
00:29:22How much?
00:29:23They're asking $35,000 cash for it.
00:29:26That reminds me.
00:29:27You owe me some money.
00:29:29I generally do, Arch.
00:29:31Joe Benson told me yesterday at the bank that you were overdrawn.
00:29:34Don't worry.
00:29:35The old man covered it for you.
00:29:36Thanks.
00:29:37Still trying to fill those inside straights, huh?
00:29:39I always forget what you told me.
00:29:41Hey, have you been spending our money?
00:29:44You know, that's a joint account.
00:29:46How much did he draw?
00:29:48$500.
00:29:49Said you drew it in gold.
00:29:52Makes a nice clink in the pocket of that.
00:29:55I'll see you later.
00:29:56I've got to get ready for work.
00:29:57Yeah.
00:29:59Is there some cream there, Jim?
00:30:03Excuse me.
00:30:16You don't believe that story about the $500, do you?
00:30:19No, I don't.
00:30:22Well, look, honey, there's certain things that you've got to understand.
00:30:26I don't like Arch knowing everything that's going on.
00:30:29Yes.
00:30:31And I can understand you're not wanting him to know.
00:30:34That $500 is a lot of money.
00:30:36I didn't like taking it out of the account either, but...
00:30:40Well, it...
00:30:41It was for a lady's honor.
00:30:43Stop it, Lee. Stop it.
00:30:45I know all about you and Lily.
00:30:50Oh, I know what you're thinking.
00:30:54Oh, honey.
00:30:55That $500 was to help Owen out.
00:30:58I don't want Arch or anybody else to know about it.
00:31:02But now that the fat's in the fire, I guess I'll have to tell you the truth.
00:31:06You see, Owen got in trouble with Lily.
00:31:10And the least I could do to help him was...
00:31:13Well, you know how much I think of Owen.
00:31:15The least I could do to help him was to give him the money.
00:31:18You're a liar.
00:31:20You're a mean, contemptible liar.
00:31:41You're all alike.
00:31:43You and Arch and Lee.
00:31:44You could be a little clearer.
00:31:45You're all a pack of liars.
00:31:46Well, I'm through.
00:31:47I'm leaving.
00:31:49Slow down to a walk.
00:31:50That $500 you gave Lily.
00:31:52I know where it came from.
00:31:53Now, wait a minute, Jen.
00:31:54Protecting him again.
00:31:56Fighting with Lily's brothers.
00:31:57You've known all about her and Lee from the start.
00:31:59It's just a lot of talk.
00:32:01I'd pay it no mind.
00:32:02Owen.
00:32:03Why can't you be your own man?
00:32:08These misunderstandings happen.
00:32:10All married people have a quarrel once in a while, I guess.
00:32:14I hate him.
00:32:16Jen.
00:32:22You and I are kind of in the same fix.
00:32:25Arch is all the family we've got.
00:32:27With him, we belong to something.
00:32:30Shouldn't we give him back a little bit in return?
00:32:40Owen, what can I do?
00:32:41What can I do?
00:32:43Stay around.
00:32:45For Arch.
00:32:50All right.
00:32:53But all I'll do is stay.
00:33:06Morning, Mr. Kicker.
00:33:13Hey.
00:33:14Hey, Owen.
00:33:16What fell on you?
00:33:18Couple of hard cases.
00:33:19Brothers.
00:33:20Name her Faskin.
00:33:21Faskin?
00:33:24Two of them?
00:33:26Lily's clan is gathering.
00:33:34Do they know?
00:33:36You're still alive.
00:33:38Do you think they'll find out?
00:33:39What?
00:33:39Well, not for a while.
00:33:41Sheriff's got them locked up.
00:33:45How long?
00:33:46Week.
00:33:50They'll try again.
00:33:52Who'll tell them?
00:33:54Well, Lily might.
00:33:55She doesn't want to, but they're kind of hard to handle.
00:33:59Well, what do I do?
00:34:01You wouldn't do it.
00:34:03Let's see.
00:34:06There's only one way.
00:34:07Take Jen and get out.
00:34:08Stay away from here.
00:34:09Begin all over again.
00:34:10Because you've wanded this place out and all your friends with it.
00:34:14Sure.
00:34:15It's either that or get shot.
00:34:18With me gone, the ranch is yours.
00:34:25Nobody can stop you thinking that.
00:34:27But don't say it to me.
00:34:30All right.
00:34:34Hurt you?
00:34:37One day you'll help me once too often.
00:34:42Now, you boys are going out on a big roundup.
00:34:44If you ride with a short or underfed string,
00:34:47you might as well be afoot.
00:34:48Now, here's a horse you can have a horse.
00:34:50A real Saturday afternoon bargain.
00:34:53Sound of limb and body.
00:34:55Rune, he's been burned so often he looks like a brand book.
00:34:58Just give me an offer.
00:35:00I may got about 12 brands.
00:35:01What do you say, Lee?
00:35:02Oh, I'd say a good round dozen.
00:35:03That means 12 unhappy customers.
00:35:06Now, Rune, I pass.
00:35:07All right.
00:35:08Anybody else?
00:35:09Take him away.
00:35:10Put him out the grass.
00:35:11All right, all right.
00:35:13I got the best cow horses this side of KC.
00:35:16I got a pedigree comes with this one.
00:35:19Name your price.
00:35:20Well, that looks more like it.
00:35:22Yeah, let me take it.
00:35:23Open the gate, boys.
00:36:02Good horse, Rune.
00:36:03Only trouble is he's a whistler.
00:36:05He leaks air.
00:36:06Call that a leak?
00:36:10Owen, you know better than to ride a horse that way through town on Saturday.
00:36:14That team of Wilfants took after you and almost ran away.
00:36:16Well, don't blame me.
00:36:18Blame the horse.
00:36:19He whistles and everything follows.
00:36:21Hey, hold on.
00:36:22I ain't through yet.
00:36:23You sure are.
00:36:26Can't you hold your breath a minute?
00:36:28Put him away.
00:36:35I wonder if the Paskin boys are comfortable.
00:36:38Who cares?
00:36:39Let's go look in on him.
00:36:43Pick me up later at the saloon.
00:36:50Oh, Owen.
00:36:53How are things?
00:36:54Quiet, Con.
00:36:55Getting ready for Ronda.
00:36:57Tough job.
00:36:58Why don't you like to sign on?
00:36:5930 a month in meals.
00:37:00Oh, not me.
00:37:01I sleep in a soft bed every night.
00:37:04Help you?
00:37:06I'm bringing the Paskins some cookies.
00:37:09Better push them into their cage with a stick.
00:37:12You're a troublesome pair.
00:37:20One inside?
00:37:21Might be catching.
00:37:28I understand the judge gave you boys a week.
00:37:31Judge.
00:37:32The stinking justice of the peace.
00:37:34Well, maybe next time we can arrange a real judge.
00:37:36Claw, hammer, coat, and all.
00:37:38Next time we'll be different.
00:37:44Look.
00:37:48Lily's doing all right without you boys.
00:37:50Why don't you leave her alone?
00:37:52I don't see no missus in front of her name.
00:37:54Well, that happens.
00:37:56Not to a sister of ours.
00:37:58All right, act like jackasses and you'll be treated like that.
00:38:01When you get out, the sheriff will put you on the train.
00:38:03Himself.
00:38:04Show your faces after that and you'll be back.
00:38:07Right here.
00:38:07For six months.
00:38:09You scare me.
00:38:14Just say the word and I'll order some curtains for this place.
00:38:24By the way, I've decided to go on round-up with you.
00:38:27Not so easy, Lee.
00:38:28There are some things and some people you can't run away from.
00:38:31Well, I'll think about that when I get back.
00:38:32You ought to think about it now.
00:38:33Hold it.
00:38:34There's a Cheyenne in that tree.
00:38:39Got him.
00:38:40Hey, that thing jumped into your hand.
00:38:42How did you get it so fast?
00:38:43Practice, son.
00:38:44You ought to try it.
00:38:45Haven't got the time.
00:38:47Lee.
00:38:49The old Cheyenne camp.
00:38:51Yeah.
00:38:52Remember the night we rolled the rocks down on them?
00:38:54I remember when Arch caught us and the licking we got.
00:38:56I'd sooner have been scouted by the Cheyennes.
00:38:58A couple of fool kids playing with Indians.
00:39:00We had our times, didn't we?
00:39:03Let's go.
00:39:03Let's go.
00:39:43Good morning, Arch.
00:39:44Well, good morning, Lee.
00:39:45Good morning.
00:39:47Phew.
00:39:47I'm getting too fat.
00:39:49Well, did you buy any horses yesterday?
00:39:51Well, Obi Roon tried to push a wind broke gelding off on us, but Owen caught him up.
00:39:56Yeah.
00:39:56Obi never quits trying.
00:39:58Oh.
00:39:58Arch, you know, I got to thinking last night.
00:40:00Come on, man.
00:40:01Tell me while you were walking.
00:40:03Come on, walk with me.
00:40:04Walk with me.
00:40:12Walk with me.
00:40:13Well, what started me thinking was that I saw a horse in Runes that I'd like to own.
00:40:17And I began talking about price before I remembered that I'm strapped.
00:40:21Buy him.
00:40:21We always got money for a good horse.
00:40:22Oh, I don't care about the horse.
00:40:24I probably own too many.
00:40:26No, Arch.
00:40:26The point is that a man my age, with a wife, with a father who owns half the county, has
00:40:33to hold off buying a horse because his wages won't let him afford it.
00:40:36Oh, listen, Lee.
00:40:37You haven't been able to trust me.
00:40:39Now, that's in the past, Arch.
00:40:41You were right.
00:40:41But it's done.
00:40:44I've been a good hand this winter, haven't I?
00:40:46Yes, you have.
00:40:47You think I know the cattle business?
00:40:49Maybe not as well as you were Owen, but well enough to make money at it, huh?
00:40:53Of course.
00:40:53If you need more money, you'll get it.
00:40:54Let me tell you.
00:40:56When you came home with Jen last fall, I thought it was another piece of foolishness like
00:41:00all the others.
00:41:00It wasn't.
00:41:02Jen was something else.
00:41:03Something right.
00:41:05That's why I put you on a top hand's wages.
00:41:07I'll raise them.
00:41:08Oh, no, Arch.
00:41:09That's too easy.
00:41:11Either I'm your son, entitled to your trust with the ranch or anything else, or I'm not.
00:41:17It's one or the other.
00:41:19What do you want?
00:41:21I want to be part owner of the ranch, Arch.
00:41:23I want to share in it.
00:41:25I'm married and settled down now.
00:41:27Why, here's where I'll live and raise my kids and die.
00:41:31Here's where I'll help take over from you when you've had enough of the business.
00:41:37I'm not just camping here for wages.
00:41:39I'm here to stay, Arch.
00:41:41I'm your son.
00:41:44I've been thinking about it, too.
00:41:46More than you.
00:41:47A lot more than you.
00:41:49You're my own blood.
00:41:50A man has a debt to that.
00:41:51Oh, you've got no debt to me, Arch.
00:41:54Yeah.
00:41:55It's an old one.
00:41:57Began the day your mother died.
00:41:59You've got it coming to you, Lee, for doing without her.
00:42:02Well, we've managed, old-timer.
00:42:04Beginner to feel like one.
00:42:07I'll go in town tomorrow and draw up the papers.
00:42:09From now on, half the ranch is yours.
00:42:12Oh.
00:42:13My half will go to Owen when I die.
00:42:18Hamilton.
00:42:18Flying H.
00:42:20Neely.
00:42:21Dog Iron.
00:42:23Sands.
00:42:24Lazy S double O.
00:42:26Frank Peter.
00:42:27Box Pitchfork.
00:42:30Frank Martin.
00:42:31Let's see.
00:42:32Box F.
00:42:33Double F.
00:42:34That's right.
00:42:34Double F.
00:42:35What are you carrying them in your head for?
00:42:37We've got 40 different brands.
00:42:38The biggest shuffle you ever saw.
00:42:39We'll have to move fast.
00:42:40Talk to you a minute, Owen.
00:42:42Sure.
00:42:42Go ahead, Huey.
00:42:44I was back up in the mountains yesterday, looking for the last of the horses.
00:42:47Well, we finished a tally this morning.
00:42:48They're all in.
00:42:49There's a small jag of our cattle up there.
00:42:52Brands are still haired over, but I could tell they were ours.
00:42:55Couldn't stop, because I was trying to turn the horses, and by the time we got them headed downhill, I
00:42:58was miles away.
00:42:59You want to pick them up today?
00:43:01Well, I aimed to this morning.
00:43:02They're gone.
00:43:04Well, they've probably been rounded up by the other crew already.
00:43:06Nope, they was drove the other way.
00:43:08Did you trail them?
00:43:09As far as I could.
00:43:12Let's go try again, Huey.
00:43:13I'll come with you.
00:43:14Don't stop and get my gun, Huey.
00:43:16Better get Owen's, too.
00:43:27Take a look at this shoe.
00:43:30You see the two cocks on the inside and how it's built up?
00:43:36This rider signed his name for us.
00:43:47Two horses and four steers.
00:43:49These tracks go straight for a while.
00:44:06It was dark on me here, and I turned back.
00:44:09Good place to cross.
00:44:11If they want to cross, you'd think like a cattle rustler.
00:44:15Let's look on the other side.
00:44:28Only one horse came out of the water here.
00:44:37I was right.
00:44:38This horse is a decode.
00:44:39Either one up or downstream.
00:44:41Huey, you look below.
00:44:43Yeah.
00:45:02There ain't even been a horse down this way.
00:45:05There has been here, and they've been driving some steers ahead of them.
00:45:27Here's where they come out.
00:45:32That's Herb Becker's place.
00:45:34Yeah.
00:45:34Let's go over and have a look.
00:46:01Here he comes.
00:46:02Two of them.
00:46:03Here he comes.
00:46:06Here he comes.
00:46:06You looking for something?
00:46:08Four steers.
00:46:11Well, there ain't that watering, Tronf.
00:46:13Their ears would stick up.
00:46:15Come here, Herb.
00:46:20Notice that cork.
00:46:22The built-up inside of that shoe.
00:46:24Who owns the horse that wears it?
00:46:26Never seen it before.
00:46:46Here's another one.
00:46:47It's fresh.
00:46:54What about it, Herb?
00:46:55What about what?
00:46:58Who rode that horse drove four of our steers in here.
00:47:01Look.
00:47:02If you see your steers here, you can talk.
00:47:04If not, I ain't accountable.
00:47:06Get on your horse and get out of here.
00:47:08Heard by figure you butchered that beef and buried the hides, but I can't prove it.
00:47:12So I'm gonna do the next best thing.
00:47:14I'm gonna show you what you buy into every time I track our cattle here.
00:47:39I always heard you were a pretty good saloon fighter, Herb.
00:47:42How are you without a bottle or a knife?
00:48:02How are you doing?
00:48:05How are you doing this?
00:48:07How did you think of her?
00:48:08That's to me.
00:48:20Now we're going to take four of your steers.
00:48:22You licked him.
00:48:23Why go to jail for stealing his cattle?
00:48:25You talking as the new half-owner?
00:48:28You've got a roundup to go to, so have I.
00:48:30How are we going to make it if we're in jail?
00:48:34You coming, Huey?
00:48:36You're still foreman.
00:49:03You're going to keep me from going to the sheriff?
00:49:07Think back a ways, Herb.
00:49:09Did I put a gun on you?
00:49:11Did I shoot the knife out of your hand?
00:49:14Am I driving off your steers?
00:49:17I got no part in this.
00:49:22He's your foreman.
00:49:24Sad, but true.
00:49:26Put a good price on your beef, Herb.
00:49:29You can't buy me off.
00:49:30Don't try.
00:49:32It wasn't a $250 beating, was it?
00:49:37All right.
00:49:38It's a deal.
00:49:40But I ain't done with him yet.
00:49:42Long as I can look down a gun barrel, I ain't done with him.
00:49:49Come on in to town with me.
00:49:51I'll get you the money.
00:49:52I can't sit a horse till I get this hand fixed and get a drink.
00:49:55Let's get you the money.
00:49:58All right, pal.
00:50:00All right.
00:50:00All right.
00:50:06Aren't you dancing tonight, son?
00:50:09I'm drinking tonight, Mr. Willoughby.
00:50:10Be careful that applejack.
00:50:12Don't put your lights out.
00:50:14See no one?
00:50:15Start bleeding again.
00:50:16Jen took him to the house.
00:50:38Too tight?
00:50:39The tighter the better.
00:50:42You seem to be getting in a lot of trouble lately.
00:50:45Trouble?
00:50:46You don't have to, you know.
00:50:48You can stop them from saying those things about you and Lily.
00:50:51Oh, I don't mind.
00:50:52I happen to like Lily.
00:50:54There.
00:50:56Here, let me help you.
00:51:00Thanks, Jen.
00:51:04Owen, you can't make it up to Lily by yourself.
00:51:07Flea was half a man and...
00:51:14I want to see Jen alone.
00:51:19Wait, Owen.
00:51:21Stay.
00:51:23What do you want?
00:51:26I'm leaving in the morning, honey.
00:51:27Big round-up.
00:51:29I'll be gone a long time.
00:51:30I know that.
00:51:32Well, I've got to say goodbye, don't I?
00:51:35Well, goodbye then.
00:51:36Oh, no.
00:51:37Not like that.
00:51:39Not anymore.
00:51:42Leave me alone.
00:51:49It's easy enough to lock one man out as long as there's somebody else to take his place.
00:51:53You're drunk, Lee.
00:51:55Drunk enough to see double.
00:51:56To see you here with Jen.
00:52:12I'm sorry you had to see that.
00:52:17I wish I could help Jen.
00:52:21Just knowing you're around helps.
00:52:29There are things I'd like to say.
00:52:33What would you say, Owen?
00:52:41I'd say I haven't got the right to help.
00:52:44I'd say it's too bad.
00:53:13All right.
00:53:17I'd say it's too bad.
00:53:18What do you want?
00:53:19I want to talk to you.
00:53:22How's the hand?
00:53:24Still sore.
00:53:25Samantha.
00:53:26Still sore, huh?
00:53:27Well, I guess you don't have much love for Daybright.
00:53:31My time will come.
00:53:35I hear the Faskin boys are getting out of jail soon.
00:53:38So I hear, and they'll still be looking for Papa.
00:53:42If I got them figured, Daybright will be dead in another few days.
00:53:46No, he'll be gone.
00:53:49Roundup? That ain't gonna be hard for him to find.
00:53:52Oh, a couple of saddle tramps like them would be picked up in no time at Roundup.
00:53:57And, uh, in order for them to join, they'll have to have a letter of authorization from some well-known
00:54:02brand.
00:54:04Uh, like yours, say.
00:54:06Daybright would try to keep him out.
00:54:08Sure, he will, if they try to join the Western Division.
00:54:12But if they ride to the Eastern Division, present your letter, they can get in.
00:54:16I'll be with the Eastern. Likely his wagon captain.
00:54:22East and West Divisions meet, don't they, to finish up the Roundup?
00:54:26Yeah. To finish up.
00:54:32You know, Herb, I should have made that check much bigger.
00:54:35That was a bad beating you took.
00:54:38Yeah. An awful beating.
00:54:44Jones, Western.
00:54:48Huey, you're with me.
00:54:51Stu Miller, Western.
00:54:55Orv, you're Eastern.
00:55:02Hungover?
00:55:04I feel fine.
00:55:07How'd you make out with Baggett yesterday?
00:55:09I bought the stairs. Good price?
00:55:11Two hundred and fifty dollars.
00:55:14Just for cattle?
00:55:16Yeah.
00:55:20I've decided to take your advice, Owen.
00:55:23I'm getting out of the country after this Roundup.
00:55:26You?
00:55:27Starting all over again? Working for a living?
00:55:29Yeah.
00:55:30Just like that.
00:55:32What about Gin?
00:55:33I'll send for her when I'm ready.
00:55:35She'll join me.
00:55:41A nice morning the day we left.
00:55:43The sun warm on your shoulders.
00:55:46But we didn't feel good.
00:55:48This time there was something under your wishbone
00:55:51that said we were in for grief.
00:55:57Seems like they were just coming home from the winter drift.
00:56:00We turn around, they're off again.
00:56:01How do you feel about another month with me?
00:56:03Scare you?
00:56:05You'll wait for him alone this time.
00:56:08What's wrong, Jim?
00:56:10Something to do with Lee?
00:56:11I can't talk about it, Arch.
00:56:13Well, it sounds final.
00:56:16It is final.
00:56:21I was going to leave without telling you.
00:56:23Were you, Jim?
00:56:24Can't I help you?
00:56:27You can't always make it up for him.
00:56:30I always have, till now.
00:56:34That's part of the trouble.
00:56:36Look, maybe it's my fault.
00:56:38Maybe it never could have worked.
00:56:40I'm restless here.
00:56:42I've been alone so long, I'm used to it.
00:56:46We've never lied to each other.
00:56:47We don't have to start now.
00:56:50Are you running away from Owen because he loves you?
00:56:55You're a good woman, Jen.
00:56:56Your life should be rich and peaceful.
00:56:58But if you run away from it now,
00:57:00you'll spend what's left with better memories and doubts.
00:57:05Wait till they get back.
00:57:09That's something like what Owen said.
00:57:11It's good advice, Jen.
00:57:22The spring roundup is a cow hunt.
00:57:24In the winter, they drift.
00:57:26The aim is to get them back to the home range.
00:57:30Besides that, there's the calves.
00:57:33They make a tally, brand, crop, and dehorn.
00:57:40I was with Owen in the Western Division.
00:57:42We worked hard, and the hours were long.
00:57:45He didn't measure time by the day, but by the greening of the grass.
00:57:50It was all planned well, and the work went even and smooth.
00:57:53That's easy to have.
00:58:05No, no.
00:58:21What?
00:58:23Get on.
00:58:25What about our guns?
00:58:26Get inside. I'll throw them on the back platform after the train starts.
00:58:31You were gonna kill a man, remember?
00:58:33I ain't through yet.
00:58:34Next visit?
00:58:35That's right.
00:58:36Now I'm worried.
00:59:09Did the sheriff tell you to stay out?
00:59:11What do you want?
00:59:12Be neighborly.
00:59:13Help you find the man you're looking for, Daybright.
00:59:16Why do you care?
00:59:18I run a business.
00:59:19It's the business of moving cattle fast over long distances.
00:59:23Mostly in rainy weather at night.
00:59:26Daybright bothers me.
00:59:27Why don't you level on him, then?
00:59:29That shouldn't bother a man like you.
00:59:31And hang?
00:59:32No.
00:59:33I'm looking for someone to shoot him who's got a right to.
00:59:37You found him.
00:59:38Here's the setup.
00:59:40Daybright's on Roundup.
00:59:42I can get you into it legally.
00:59:44Once you're there, you'll have no trouble finding him.
00:59:46Go on.
00:59:48When this train hits the top of Bench, Brad, it'll be slow to a walk.
00:59:53We get off there.
00:59:54I got three horses waiting.
00:59:57Daybright will sure be surprised to see us.
00:59:59Yeah.
01:00:00Come on up.
01:00:01Here we are.
01:00:28Let's go.
01:00:28On the other side of the mountain, Lee was with the Eastern Division.
01:00:45More.
01:00:50Cut out all Omar brand.
01:00:52It's local.
01:00:52Turn him over to Mr. Jenkins here.
01:00:54Right.
01:00:59Get out O'Bar.
01:01:04Get out O'Bar.
01:01:06Oh, my God.
01:01:47Lee!
01:01:56Referee that brand.
01:02:16I read Obar.
01:02:17I take it back.
01:02:18It looked like mine.
01:02:19Satisfied?
01:02:20Satisfied.
01:02:20He's yours, Jenkins.
01:02:35What brand?
01:02:36Obar.
01:02:38See that pair with the pack horse behind Hardison?
01:02:45They brought this.
01:02:47Claim to represent an outfit near you.
01:02:52Yeah.
01:02:53They're from our part.
01:02:56Know his two riders?
01:02:58Yeah, I seen them.
01:02:59All right.
01:03:00I'll assign them to your wagon.
01:03:01No, no.
01:03:02Some of the boys haven't a very friendly feeling for that brand.
01:03:05Well, if they're wrong ones, I'll send them whistling.
01:03:07Well, you can't do that.
01:03:08They got a right to their stock.
01:03:10We'll keep a close look out of the stuff they cut out.
01:03:13Meanwhile, assign them to another wagon.
01:03:14Somebody who doesn't know them.
01:03:16I don't want them around me.
01:03:17Well, that's fair enough.
01:03:29In Lee's division, the work was the same as ours.
01:03:33They'd make the combings, snake them out of the draws, gather them, push them toward the middle.
01:04:01Hey, first of our stock we've seen.
01:04:04Yeah, they've really wintered.
01:04:06Heavier than anything on the home range.
01:04:08Yeah.
01:04:09Looks like a bonus for all hands.
01:04:12Arch will be a rich man.
01:04:15So will you.
01:04:16You're a partner now, ain't you?
01:04:20That's right.
01:04:21I was forgetting.
01:04:26Well, I got a half of summer's work laid out.
01:04:28I'm heading for Texas to restock.
01:04:31How are you going to get your beef from Texas all the way home to Montana?
01:04:34Yeah, by the time you buy your herd, Kansas will come up with some new kind of fever and quarantine
01:04:38you out.
01:04:39If you move to New Mexico, the same thing will happen.
01:04:42I reckon you'll just have to stay put in Texas, and that's no life.
01:04:45Now, son, you must have heard of railroads.
01:04:48I'm just going to lock my herd up in airtight boxcars, put a bag of that clean Texas air in
01:04:53each car, and unload in Montana.
01:04:55Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
01:05:04Say, my name is Strobey.
01:05:05I don't think I got your name.
01:05:07Oh, Dave Allard.
01:05:08I, uh, I gathered you're sending your crew back to Montana with your strays while you head for Texas to
01:05:13restock.
01:05:13That's right.
01:05:14Well, I can save you the trouble.
01:05:16I'll have 3,000 double-wintered steers for sale at the end of roundup.
01:05:22Good shape?
01:05:23You're picking them up every day.
01:05:24Look at them.
01:05:25They've got our brand.
01:05:27What price?
01:05:28$14,000.
01:05:29Laid down to Wet Mountain Meadow.
01:05:32$14,000.
01:05:35You just made a deal.
01:05:37I'll have to find the nearest telegraph station, and it'll take a few days till I can cover a check
01:05:41for $42,000.
01:05:43That's all right.
01:06:12I'll have to find the nearest telegraph.
01:06:20Here's some hot coffee.
01:06:22Well, thanks, Mr. Willoughby.
01:06:24Why don't I save my money and buy a nice warm store I can sit in?
01:06:27I've seen them stores.
01:06:28They're drafty.
01:06:29Beats washing away.
01:06:31Sure does.
01:06:34Come on in out of the weather, friend.
01:06:37What are you?
01:06:38East or West Division?
01:06:39West.
01:06:41Name's Allard.
01:06:42Dave Brighton.
01:06:43Thanks.
01:06:44I needed this.
01:06:45I need a horse, too.
01:06:46I wanted to ride on through tonight, and mine's beaten.
01:06:49Huey, get the man a horse.
01:06:53Where are you headed for?
01:06:55I left the East Division for a few days.
01:06:57I'm looking for a telegraph.
01:06:58Missed it in the rain, huh?
01:07:00Man could miss anything in this.
01:07:02I don't know whether I'm drowned or not.
01:07:05Well, there's a telegraph at our meeting place, the Wet Mountain Meadow.
01:07:09Huey, change the man's saddle while he finishes his coffee.
01:07:12Say, is that your brand?
01:07:17That's right.
01:07:19I just bought your herd.
01:07:21That's why I was looking for a telegraph, to get my credit in shape by wire.
01:07:24Bought?
01:07:26You must be mistaken, mister.
01:07:28Trobe, he owned the brand?
01:07:30Yeah.
01:07:32That's it.
01:07:323,000 double winter steers delivered at the meeting place.
01:07:39Trobe's the owner, ain't he?
01:07:40He can sell them.
01:07:43Is there anything wrong?
01:07:46Not a thing, friend.
01:07:47Not a thing.
01:07:51Well, thanks for everything.
01:08:21I didn't think he could plan that far ahead.
01:08:23You reckon that's why Lee made his bid to be partnered?
01:08:26That's why.
01:08:27Sell the beef and get the money to clear out.
01:08:30What's he running from?
01:08:35There's people he has to answer to.
01:08:38You always stand up for him, don't you, Owen?
01:08:44When you're loyal to a man Huey, you're loyal to everything about him.
01:08:47Even his faults.
01:08:48Even his son.
01:08:53It's funny what you just said about Arch.
01:08:55I've been feeling that way a long time about somebody else.
01:09:02About Lily.
01:09:19Mm-hmm.
01:10:04Day by day and hour by hour, the two divisions push closer together.
01:10:09So did Owen and Lee for the showdown.
01:10:16Only an hour away, Owen.
01:10:17The eastern division's over the next hill.
01:10:26Oh, my God.
01:10:31Oh, my God.
01:10:45Whoa.
01:10:47Whoa.
01:10:48Oh!
01:11:07Hiya, big fella.
01:11:08Howdy, all.
01:11:12How you feeling?
01:11:13I'm making so many days in the saddle.
01:11:15I'll take you.
01:11:16Are you around?
01:11:17Yeah, lay.
01:11:19Owen.
01:11:20How'd it go?
01:11:20How are you?
01:11:21Oh, spoons of silk.
01:11:24What's your count?
01:11:25Two thousand, yours.
01:11:26Good, a little over a thousand.
01:11:29Well, that gives you Allard's three thousand and some to spare.
01:11:34Who's Allard?
01:11:36The man you're gonna sell the herd to.
01:11:41That's right, so it is.
01:11:42There'll be news to Arch.
01:11:44Especially since he's planning to get out of the panhandle and buy more stock.
01:11:48The deal's going through.
01:11:51I'm Archer's foreman, Lee.
01:11:52And I'm a partner.
01:11:54I pay half your wages, remember?
01:11:56You give me half my orders?
01:11:58Your orders are to keep your nose out of my business.
01:12:00And let you steal Archer's cattle.
01:12:03I'm a little hard of hearing, Lee.
01:12:06Day after tomorrow, we start for home.
01:12:08It's a big herd.
01:12:09The man in the way could get run over.
01:12:13You better tell Allard it was a mistake.
01:12:15To forget about it.
01:12:17Your orders are still to keep your nose out of my business.
01:12:21Wait a minute, Lee.
01:12:23I don't get it.
01:12:24You don't think you can pull this off with me around, do you?
01:12:52Let's get on with the cut.
01:13:00Oh, and figure this one out.
01:13:04I was working down by the river past the last of the wagons.
01:13:07Don't make sense.
01:13:08What?
01:13:09Well, passing one of the wagons, I saw those two faskins.
01:13:13You sure?
01:13:13No mistake.
01:13:15They've been on roundup.
01:13:16Stood there talking with the rest of the crew.
01:13:18Needed a shave.
01:13:19They've slept in wet clothes like us.
01:13:23Lee knew it and didn't say anything.
01:13:26And he isn't worried like he should be.
01:13:34Owen.
01:13:39You know, I've been thinking about that deal I made with Dave Allard.
01:13:43Yeah?
01:13:45I admit I made a mistake.
01:13:47Like I always do when I haven't got you around to steer me.
01:13:50Well, I'm glad you see the light, Lee.
01:13:52Yeah.
01:13:54Yeah.
01:13:54Well, I'd better get down to the depot and stop Allard before he gets you involved in that deal.
01:13:58Fine.
01:13:59You go ahead.
01:14:00Will you come with me?
01:14:03I'm pretty busy here.
01:14:05Well, it'll be much more convincing with you around.
01:14:09All right, I'll tell Meade we're going.
01:14:18Lee and I are going over to the telegraph.
01:14:20We won't be long.
01:14:21All right.
01:14:45Remember now, we don't blast till Dave Wright gets to that boulder.
01:14:48Yeah, I'll remember.
01:14:54Looks like this is our last roundup together, Owen.
01:14:58Oh, I tried to pull a fast one on you by grabbing that Allard deal, but I couldn't.
01:15:03So I'm going anyway.
01:15:04Just like I told you I would.
01:15:06Fine.
01:15:06I'm leaving you to win right down the line, Owen.
01:15:09I'm leaving everything.
01:15:11Arch, the ranch, Jen, you.
01:15:16It's yours.
01:15:17The works.
01:15:19You sure you thought this out good?
01:15:21You've been trying to tell me for years how to do the right thing.
01:15:24You gave me the straight line about getting away from here and beginning all over again.
01:15:28I just kind of hate to do it, that's all.
01:15:31Maybe it's because, uh, well, we've had a lot of fun together.
01:15:35We have at that.
01:15:37Remember that time in Kansas City when Arch took us to the Cattlemen's Convention?
01:15:41Yeah.
01:15:42I played cards with the big Texans.
01:15:44Yeah, I remember.
01:15:45You beat him on five cold poker draws.
01:15:47Right.
01:15:48That's when I found out what good a kicker was.
01:15:51Yeah, we sure had a lot of good times.
01:15:53That's what I'll miss.
01:15:55I'll miss him, too.
01:15:58No matter how old you get, there's that part of growing up you never forget.
01:16:02I'm glad you said that, Owen.
01:16:03I'll remember that when I'm gone from here.
01:16:14Now.
01:16:15Now.
01:16:56Where's Owen?
01:16:57Went with Lee over to the telegraph.
01:17:00You hear that?
01:17:01Somebody's in trouble.
01:17:02Take some in and go see.
01:17:16Go around the other side.
01:17:18Try to sneak up behind them.
01:17:19I'll cover you.
01:17:52Take some in and move on.
01:18:01Take some in and move on.
01:18:04You won't move on.
01:18:05You won't move on.
01:18:06Take some in and move on.
01:18:18Oh, my God.
01:18:44Oh, my God.
01:19:16Oh, my God.
01:19:42Oh, my God.
01:20:05Oh, my God.
01:20:31Oh, my God.
01:20:33I always could outdraw you, Owen.
01:20:36I'll spot you then, but it won't change anything.
01:20:39Come on out.
01:20:42Or do I have to come in and get you?
01:21:01What's the whole story, Arch?
01:21:03All of it.
01:21:05All of it.
01:21:06It was in front of me for years, Owen.
01:21:08I refused to see it.
01:21:09I lied to myself.
01:21:10You lied to make it easier for me.
01:21:13You didn't kill him.
01:21:15You didn't kill him.
01:21:15I did.
01:21:17Long time ago.
01:21:19The day I looked away and hoped he'd change.
01:21:22Hoped he'd work out.
01:21:32I'll have to tell Jen.
01:21:35I'd like to tell him myself.
01:21:36I'll have to tell you.
01:21:38I'll have to tell you.
01:21:52I'll have to tell you.
