The Industrial Revolution promised a brighter future—and, in many ways, it delivered astonishing advances that transformed the world. But progress had a price: dangerous factories, child labor, pollution, relentless work, and cities transformed almost overnight.
“Industrial Revolution” looks back at that age of technological optimism from the perspective of the 21st century. What sounded like the future in the 1800s can sound rather different when we know what came next.
And yet here we are, still proclaiming:
