Kintaro continues his “life studies” by taking on another odd job—this time at a traditional family-owned noodle restaurant. Unlike the high-tech setting of Episode 1, this episode shifts into a warm, homey, small-business environment, giving Kintaro a totally different challenge.

Plot Summary

At the noodle shop, Kintaro works under the tough but fair father who runs the place. The real tension, however, comes from the man’s beautiful daughter, Noriko, who initially dislikes Kintaro. She sees him as lazy, clumsy, and beneath her, especially since she is highly disciplined and takes pride in the family’s work.

As usual, Kintaro’s goofy, over-the-top antics (often with a perverted edge) make him seem unreliable. But secretly, he studies everything—how to make noodles, how to run the restaurant, and even how to perfect the delicate balance of flavors.

When Noriko tests him and tries to humiliate him, Kintaro surprises her with unexpected knowledge, determination, and sincerity. By the end, her impression of him shifts: she sees that his eccentric personality hides real dedication and talent. This results in the usual bittersweet conclusion, where Kintaro must move on before anything can fully develop.
