Plot Summary

At the swimming school, Kintaro meets Naoko Hayami, a talented young swimming instructor. She’s graceful, athletic, and admired by her students, but she hides insecurity beneath her confident exterior. At first, she finds Kintaro’s goofy and perverted antics irritating, just like most women he encounters.

Kintaro throws himself into the work—cleaning, assisting classes, and secretly studying swimming techniques late at night. Though he looks like a fool, he pushes his body and mind to learn everything he can.

As Naoko observes his persistence, she begins to see his genuine heart. Kintaro even becomes an unexpected source of inspiration for her when she struggles with self-doubt. By the end, Naoko is moved by his sincerity and effort, realizing that Kintaro is far more than the idiot he pretends to be.

But, as always, just as a bond begins to form, Kintaro departs quietly to continue his endless journey of “studying the book of life.”
