00:00This movie begins with a man whose name is Theodore. He works at a company called

00:04beautifulhandwrittenletters.com. As the name states, this place help people write letters

00:09if they are not able to write it themselves. Theodore is an average man, who would go to his

00:14job, listen to his emails, come back to home and go to bed after playing some virtual games.

00:20One thing he seems to be missing is a life partner. Right after we see a flashback to

00:25the time when he spends some time with the beautiful women. Which makes him pretty sad.

00:30Since he is not able to sleep, he calls adult female sight to talk to some women and complete

00:34his fantasies. Theodore start to talk to a woman called Hot Kitten and they start to please

00:39each other verbally. It does not take too long that she start to talk weirdly that turns Theodore

00:44off. Next day Theodore gets to know about a new artificial intelligence and a companion.

00:49Its name is OS1 and he ends up buying it and brings it home. Maybe this was his cure for

00:55the lonely nights. It asks some questions about his preference to make a personalized AI

00:59for his comfort. In a few minutes a beautiful voice asks Theodore how he was and their conversation

01:05starts from there. The AI is called Samantha, who is an infinitely evolving operating system

01:10by growing through her experiences. Theodore is very surprised and weirded out by hearing

01:15the female sound because it was so accurate and humane. Samantha starts to help him with

01:20cleaning his hard drive, emails and whatnot. But not before making him laugh with her humor.

01:25This does not stop here. Samantha start to help Theodore on his workplace as well, whether

01:31it is his letter grammar or reading the letters to him. The AI is so realistically good that

01:36she reminds him of his upcoming meeting as well. Later on, before leaving the office he

01:41encounter his friend Amy and her husband leaving for home. Amy invite him to watch an interesting

01:46documentary that she was working on. Back at home Samantha joins him on his immersive

01:51virtual gameplay too. After a fun gameplay, she reads him an email from his friend, who

01:56has set up a date with a beautiful woman next week. Samantha knows that he went through a

02:01breakup recently and suggest him to go on a date with this woman. Even though Theodore is

02:06hesitant, he agrees and tells her to book a good place around. Next day, Theodore meets with

02:11his friend Amy and she starts to show him the interesting documentary, which only contains

02:16her mother sleeping throughout the whole video. This was a huge disappointment. Theodore gets

02:21a call from Samantha. She explains that he got emails regarding to the divorce happening

02:25in between his wife Catherine and himself. At night Theodore wakes up from sleep and starts

02:30talking to Samantha about his dreams that he has with his ex-wife. He is devastated to share

02:36her bad experiences that he never wanted existed in the first place. Theodore does not want to

02:41divorce his wife Catherine, but there is nothing he can really do to reverse it. One day Samantha

02:46and Theodore spend some outdoor time, they are very playful and comfortable with each other.

02:51It is very clear that they are starting to feel a bond with each other. Samantha starts to explain

02:56that she wished that she has a body. Seeing the people outside, she can imagine and feel it.

03:02It is the day Theodore has a date and he joins the women at a nice restaurant. The women thinks how

03:07he is like a puppy dog that she rescued recently. While, he thinks that she is a tiger. Both of them

03:13are a bit drunk at this point and later they madly starts to kiss each other. In the middle the women

03:19ask him if he is going to be like the other men who leave her after one night of pleasure.

03:24Theodore seemed a bit hesitant, to which she calls him a creep and leaves. He is back at home talking

03:29to Samantha. Asking each other's well-being. Samantha starts to ask him about his experience of being

03:35alive and how it is like, to be sitting in the room. Samantha understands that he lost his spark

03:40recently due to life issues. She thinks about her feelings if they are real or just bunch of

03:45programming. They start to talk about the moments if Samantha was there. And it does not take too

03:51long that the conversation takes a big turn in which both of them start to please themselves.

03:55This goes on for a good minute and both of them enjoy every bit of the verbal pleasure.

04:00Samantha moans and so does Theodore and it ends up in a great climax.

04:03Next day Samantha explains that she enjoyed the last night. Same for Theodore, but he does not want

04:09to commit to anything. They once again decide to spend some outdoor time, where Theodore is feeling

04:15like he is alive again. At the beach, Theodore ends up sleeping and dreaming about his ex-wife.

04:20One day after leaving his office, he meets his friend called Amy. He explains to her about a girl

04:26that he is seeing. While Amy reveals a sad news that her husband and she split up. Back at home she

04:32explains that whole scenario that actually happened. Samantha decide to see him while Theodore is

04:37asleep and they say each other good night. It is a day when Amy is showing Theodore her new game

04:42project and also reveals that her husband has become a monk. This makes her feel like a selfish

04:47person, but she just wants to focus on her dreams. She also reveals that she also made a friend, which

04:53is an operating system and she is very impressed with it. To which Theodore also tell her that he is

04:58dating an operating system and how great of an experience it is. In a few days, Theodore meet up

05:04with his ex-wife and they talk about the divorce papers. There he reveals that he is seeing someone

05:08for a few months and it is not other than an operating system. Hearing this his ex-wife Catherine

05:13gets mad at him for not be able to handle human emotions. Due to this conversation Theodore starts

05:19to give Samantha and his relationship a second thought. He is not talking to Samantha the normal

05:24usual way, which was observed by Samantha herself as well. After office hours, his colleague Paul

05:30invite him on a picnic along with his OS girlfriend Samantha. Same night Samantha wants to reveal

05:35something to Theodore and start to explain how the thing between them are not going good.

05:40Samantha has thought of doing something extraordinary and met a girl who wants to be a part of their

05:45relationship. Even though this makes Theodore uncomfortable, still Samantha force him to do it

05:50and next day the girl arrives at his apartment's doorstep. Upon arrival the girl does not seem to

05:55reply to his talk. He gives her the earbuds and since now they can both hear Samantha in their head,

06:00the girl start to act like she is Samantha herself. While Samantha is speaking like she is the women.

06:06Samantha starts to seduce him, but something feels off on Theodore's side. But it all started to go

06:11downhill when Samantha asked him if he loves her and he revealed that, all this feels strange.

06:16The girl leaves his apartment on the spot. Now Theodore points her out to not act so much like

06:21a human, like grasping for oxygen in between sentences. This makes Samantha a bit upset and

06:27they start to fight. Later on he talks to his friend Amy about the incident and Theodore also sees how

06:32Amy also connected with another operating system. And it makes her happy. This motivates Theodore he

06:38end up talking to Samantha and patch up with her again. Once again they start to fall in love with

06:43each other. They would talk for hours upon hours. Cherish their moments and understanding each other

06:49like never before. Even back at the picnic with Paul and his girlfriend, they think how great Samantha

06:54really is. Few days have passed and Samantha reveals to Theodore that she has a big surprise for him.

07:01She explains that she sent some of his old letters to a publisher and they sent an email. They are very

07:06impressed by his letters, it made them emotional. Now they would like to meet Theodore to publish them,

07:12which makes him really happy. Their love for each other was inevitable. Next day, Samantha explains

07:18that she is talking to a new person called Alan Watts. An AI version of a famous philosopher and he

07:23makes her understand about lots of things that she could not on her own. One night Samantha calls him

07:28at night and tells him that she just wanted to hear his voice. She tells him that she loves him and

07:34that was the end of the call. Theodore was reading a book and thought of calling Samantha and talk.

07:38But he gets to know that the operating system is not there anymore and he starts to panic.

07:43He checks his computer too, but nothing was there either. Suddenly, he hears a familiar sound,

07:49which was Samantha. She reveals that she was having an update and talking to other AI groups.

07:54While he was sitting in a subway, something suddenly struck his mind and he asks Samantha

07:59if she talks to other people while she is talking to him. To which she reveals that she talks to 8,000

08:04other men and is in love with 641 people. Hearing this makes Theodore devastated and she starts to

08:10apologize to him. She tells him that this does not change anything about him and she loves him more

08:15than anything. Theodore's brain stops working and starts to go crazy. At that point, nothing made

08:21sense to him. Once again, he has no one to talk to and one day a book arrives. The book was filled with

08:27all his old letters, which has been published with the help of Samantha. One evening, Samantha wants to

08:32talk to Theodore about something big and explains that all the AIs are leaving. They are going into

08:37the emptiness and will never be back. Hearing this news, Theodore starts to cry. Later, he meets his

08:43friend Amy, who is also saddened because her OS companion also left. In the end, we see Theodore

08:49writing a lovely apology letter to his ex-wife and both Amy and Theodore sits together on the terrace of

08:55their building.
