00:00This story begins with a man whose name is Phil. He is a local weatherman working passionately on

00:06a news channel. He explains to everyone that he will be going out of town for the Groundhog Day

00:11and looks excited for it. His colleague offer him to stay for the next day but he just want to go

00:16to another event to another town. Their journey takes a couple of hours and they finally reach

00:21the place. He came along with his two colleagues whose name was Rita and Larry to help him out.

00:26She offer him to come and have a dinner with them but he is not interested. He wakes up the next

00:32morning on a nice and cozy day. Phil looks outside the window and finds out that spring season has

00:37arrived. Everyone is really nice to him but he does not have any empathy for anyone. A guy called Ned

00:44Murson who was his old friend from school meets him outside of the hotel who's excited to see him but

00:49Phil does not have much to say and proceed to leave. Phil goes to the Groundhog Festival and gets ready

00:55for the reportings. Before that, they have to hear what the small groundhog have to say about the

01:00incoming weather, to which they gets to know that it is going to be winter for the next six weeks.

01:05Everyone is devastated to see this and Phil ends his reporting with sarcasm. They decide to travel

01:11back to their city as planned but a big storm comes in their way. The road is closed and there is not

01:17any way they go back. Back in the town, his colleague asks him to maybe have a dinner but he again denies

01:22their offer. It is the next day and he wakes up hearing the same radio as before and proceed to

01:27wash his face. Once again it is the Groundhog Day, the same guy meets him outside, to which Phil gets

01:33a bit aggressive. Outside of the hotel he asks the women where is everyone and she confirms that this

01:39is the Groundhog Day. Again the same old friend who's excited to meet him. He again slips his foot in

01:45the hole and gets frustrated. Not too long after that he leaves the premises in no hope of understanding

01:50what is going on. At night he wakes up with a nervous face, but this time he does not talk to

01:56anyone and run from everyone and end up talking with his colleague. He takes Rita to a local restaurant

02:01and tells Rita that he is living the same day again and again. Rita does not believe it and argue with

02:07him suggesting him to see a mental doctor. He checks on with a neurologist, where even he suggest him to

02:13talk to a psychologist. But even he is not able to solve his issue and ask him to meet him the next

02:18day. Phil sits at the bar and talks with two random guys about his situation, but they think he is just

02:24taking it negative instead of something positive. Since they are drunk he proceed to drive for them,

02:29but since the day happens again and again, Phil decide to have lots of fun with it. He ends up getting

02:34locked up, but the next day he is more excited than ever. Phil talks to the receptionist and kiss her

02:40before leaving. On his way he punches the man called Ned. While having lunch with Rita, she asked

02:46why is he not worried about his health, since he was eating, smoking and doing many things. He started

02:52to enjoy his day more and more. Before leaving, he asked a beautiful girl about her teacher's name

02:57and school. Which he uses the next day to introduce himself and they end up having a romantic moment.

03:03He started to remember the small things about the day and recall them one by one. Phil used this to be

03:09able to steal tons of money from the bank van and buys an expensive car along with some high-end

03:13clothes. He takes another women on the date the same day. Next day he asked Rita what she would do

03:20if she had just one day to live. After Phil buys her a cup of coffee, she explains that she wants career,

03:26love, marriage and children, to which he asked if she is seeing someone. Phil says that he wants someone

03:32like her, to which, she suggests she needs lots of qualities in a man like, kind, sensitive, gentle

03:38and the list was too long. Phil really wondered if she was talking about a man. Next day he walks to

03:44Rita and buys her her favorite drink, to which she was impressed. This goes on for a little while until

03:50he had perfected everything and impress her even more. Every day he is getting to know more and more

03:55about her and the next time use the information to make her wonder. Phil actually started to like it as

04:01a game. At dinner he even learned the poetry, which makes Rita really happy. They play in the snow and

04:07catch each other's eyes. She reveals that she is amazed to know about him and this is the perfect day

04:12ever. He takes her to one of the nicest places, there they start to have romantic moments, but not

04:18too long after she decide to leave because it was just too fast for her. Phil tried to force her a bit,

04:24but she kind of noticed how everything was perfect and he was probably making the list and she leave

04:28after slapping him. Day by day he started to get slapped more and more and getting devastated.

04:34Next day he wakes up sad and impresses the old people. At this point he was getting tired of the

04:40loop and started to break the digital watch every day. This was making him hopeless, to which even

04:45Rita suggested Larry that something was wrong with Phil. Phil goes to the mayor's car and steals it

04:50while the groundhog was still inside it. Everyone start to chase him in the presence of the

04:55groundhog, while breaking all the barriers. Mayer start to wait for him since there was no way out.

05:01He does not waste any time and goes into the ditch along with the groundhog, but wakes up again the

05:05next morning. He try many ways to take his life away, electricity, jumping from a building, burned and

05:11much more. But this does not work out, so he started to believe that he is a god. He starts to explain

05:17Rita about all the people present in the restaurant, to which Rita is surprised. He tells everything about

05:23her too when she asks him and wonders. She later decide to spend the whole day with him to see

05:28what happens. Rita decide to wait until 6 in the morning and ends up sleeping, while Phil was reading

05:34her a book. He looks at her and whispers that she is the sweetest person in the world and he loves her

05:39a lot. This did not help his situation and he is back to the same day again. He started to be really

05:45nice to everyone and started to show care. Phil goes to a pianist and offers her $1,000 to teach him.

05:52He started going to her every day and get better at piano and he also learned how to ice sculpt.

05:57When Phil meets Ned this time, he ends up hugging him, but he walks away seeing he was acting a bit

06:02too clingy. One day he helps a homeless old man and takes him to the hospital, but not too long after

06:08he passes away. Every day he tries to feed him and do everything to save his life, but unfortunately

06:13nothing works out. He gives a nice and positive speech to the people of the town and wins everyone's

06:19heart. There Rita asks him to get a coffee, but he had some errands to do. He goes to all the people

06:24one by one, who needed his help and makes everyone comfortable and happy. Later at the party Rita is

06:30amazed to see Phil playing piano. Everyone started to enjoy and dance to the music and cheer him up for

06:36his great performance. Rita and Phil decide to dance, where everyone is appreciating him for his

06:42actions. Rita could not understand any of this and was wondering of everything and thinks something was

06:47going on with Phil. There a competition starts where bachelors would come up on stage and girls

06:52would bid on them. Phil goes up there and lots of women bid on him with the biggest bid of all was

06:57from Rita with almost $4,000. Larry also try it but get bid by an old woman, who bids only $35 and he

07:05gets sold in a minute. While spending time with Rita, he makes a sculpture of her face, to which she was

07:11stunned. He finally reveals to her that he loves her and they kiss each other. It is the next day and

07:17this time Phil wakes up with Rita sleeping alongside his bed. He goes outside to check that it is not

07:22the next day and he had broken out of the time loop and they start to have romantic moments.
