00:00Welcome back everyone it is Amelia I hope you are fine.
00:09Another member of House Hightower is introduced in House of the Dragons Season 2, Episode
00:143, begging the questions of where Gwyn Hightower has been and how important Alyson's brother
00:20is to the dance.
00:21After House of the Dragons Season 2, episode to confirm the existence of Alyson's fourth
00:26child, Daero Targaryen, the latest episode finally reveals her long unseen older brother,
00:32Gwyn Hightower.
00:33Joining the cast of House of the Dragons Season 2 as Gwyn Hightower is actor Freddy Fox, who
00:38will become a familiar face as the war continues.
00:41Gwyn Hightower briefly appeared in House of the Dragons Season 1 premiere, as he was a
00:46knight in the toonie hosted by King Visayas.
00:49However, his face wasn't shown in that episode, with the armor and helmet covered character
00:54then being played by Will Willoughby.
00:56In House of the Dragons Season 2, Episode 3, Gwyn finally has a proper introduction
01:01as his character arc begins.
01:03After Otto is fired by Aegon as Hand of the King and returns to the Reach, his son Ser
01:08Gwyn arrives at King's Landing to march a host with Criston Cole to the Crownlands,
01:13giving the Hightowers more representation in Team Green's war strategy.
01:17According to George RR Martin's Fire and Blood book, Gwyn Hightower had been in King's Landing
01:23with his father Otto Hightower, mother Aleri Florent, and sister Alicent ever since Otto
01:29became Hand of the King to Jaehaerys I Targaryen.
01:32However, Gwyn wasn't among the Hightowers who arrived at King's Landing for Rhaenyra
01:37and Laena's wedding in House of the Dragons Season 1, as only Otto, Alicent, and Hobbit
01:42Hightower were present.
01:44Additionally, Gwyn meets Criston Cole for the first time in House of the Dragons Season
01:492.
01:50Following Ser Criston Cole in marching to the Crownlands in House of the Dragons Season
01:542, Episode 3, the HBO show is already making some big changes from George RR Martin's Fire
02:00and Blood book.
02:01In the book, Ser Gwyn Hightower is named second-in-command of the City Watch before Otto Hightower is
02:07fired by Aegon.
02:08Otto devised this plan so that Gwyn could keep an eye on the commander of the City Watch,
02:13salute the legend, and report on any perceived signs of disloyalty to Aegon.
02:18Consequently, Gwyn was a gold cloak during the dance in Fire and Blood, not a soldier
02:23on the battlefield.
02:25Unless House of the Dragon backtracks and quickly makes Gwyn a gold cloak, the manner
02:29of his death will almost certainly be different from the book.
02:33Fire and Blood reveals that when Rhaenyra Targaryen takes King's Landing, Gwyn goes
02:38to the stables to sound the city's alarm but ends up being taken by his fellow gold
02:42cloaks and dragged before Luthor Largent instead.
02:45Luthor had been loyal to Daemon Targaryen the entire time, so after Gwyn calls Luthor
02:51a turn-cloak, the commander of the City Watch proceeds to fatally stab Gwyn in his stomach
02:56before opening the gates for Team Black.
02:58House of the Dragon's difference is, it's likely that Gwyn isn't killed by Luthor in
03:02the show.
03:03He could end up dying in battle alongside Ser Criston Cole, either before or after the
03:08fall of King's Landing to Rhaenyra.
03:10It's unlikely that he'll die during the fall unless he returns to King's Landing early
03:14to rendezvous with Alicent and Otto, as Criston Cole's army is still marching south from
03:20Harrenhal when Rhaenyra takes the Iron Throne.
03:23Regardless, with Gwyn Hightower having a bigger role in House of the Dragon, his death is
03:28certain to be a gory Game of Thrones-style demise.
