00:00God not making any more land.
00:03So, the more you own real estate, the more you own the world.
00:18Terrence Bud Crawford, thanks for being here with us today.
00:20Appreciate it.
00:21We're just a few months removed from arguably the biggest fight of your career.
00:25Obviously, beat Canelo in Las Vegas.
00:27I'm curious, how you feeling? What's your mindset like?
00:30I'm feeling great, you know.
00:32That was a great night.
00:33History was definitely made on that night.
00:39And I'm feeling great, you know.
00:41Nothing is really different in my life.
00:45Now that you've beaten Spence and Canelo, you know, those two obviously huge fights,
00:49I'm curious, do you feel like you've reached a new level of your career?
00:52Of course, of course.
00:53I definitely feel like after this Canelo fight, you know,
00:58my stock, my everything we have, it went up.
01:04Getting to 42-0, no easy task.
01:07But it does seem like, you know, the world's taken a little while to catch up on your excellence in the ring.
01:12And I'm curious, why do you think that is?
01:14Why do you think it's taken so long for the world to catch up?
01:16Well, I think the world took a little time to catch up because I wasn't flashy and botious.
01:24You know, I think my quietness and shyness away from the cameras
01:34had led me to not pick up so many fans because they wanted to see entertainment
01:41before the ring and outside the ring.
01:45And I give them the excitement in the ring.
01:49So I do what I'm supposed to do.
01:51And I just think they just kind of wanted a little more
01:54or wanted somebody that was more out there, I suppose.
01:58You keep a low profile, like you say.
02:01Throughout your career, though, you know, there are points where,
02:03whether it was, you know, you didn't get the big fights
02:05or you didn't necessarily, you know, promoters didn't think you were so bankable.
02:09Do you feel like that hindered you in a way?
02:13Do you feel like that prevented you from kind of taking that leap that we're seeing now?
02:17I think people that say, the promoters that say I couldn't sell
02:25or, you know, bring a lot of people to the fights
02:32is just was a tactic that they got from my previous promoter,
02:38which said that because I was leaving this company,
02:44which said that, but from every fight,
02:48from Gamboa to Ndongo to whoever it was in Jeff Horn in Vegas,
02:59New York, Omaha, it was 12,000 plus in all those fights.
03:07So for a person that couldn't sell,
03:10I sure was selling more than anybody else in his stable at that time.
03:15But, I mean, after Canelo, like, you got to be pretty bankable, right?
03:19Do you see yourself as kind of arguably one of the,
03:21if not the most bankable fighter in boxing now?
03:24I would say that, you know, if you look online,
03:26you'll see everybody and their mama calling me out.
03:30Now, now everybody want to fight Terrence Crawford,
03:33but where was all this energy when Terrence Crawford
03:36was wanting to fight everybody and nobody wanted to fight me?
03:41Nobody wanted to give me a shot.
03:42But, you know, where was all that energy?
03:44But now it's, everybody want to fight me now
03:48because the ties have changed.
03:51Let's go back in time a little bit.
03:52You grew up on the north side of Omaha.
03:54Curious, what was your childhood like?
03:56How would you describe that?
03:57It was cool.
03:58My childhood was cool, you know.
04:02Definitely got in a little trouble here and there,
04:05but, you know, we made it, so.
04:10Yeah, yeah.
04:11I mean, the north side of Omaha, you know,
04:13does, you know, have a reputation of being kind of a tougher area.
04:17Did you feel like, you know,
04:17you kind of experienced that during your childhood?
04:19For sure, it was definitely tough.
04:22You know, going to school was tough.
04:24The kids around was tough.
04:26You had to be tough.
04:27You had to have tough skin
04:28to be able to survive through the storm,
04:32you know, especially hanging out with the people
04:35that I was hanging out with.
04:39You know, getting into the things that we was getting into
04:43and one thing led to another.
04:45You got a couple of friends dead.
04:47You got friends in jail.
04:50And that's life.
04:51Did you struggle financially growing up?
04:53Did you feel like, you know,
04:54you had to get through a lot of tough financial times?
04:56Oh, of course.
04:57Of course.
04:58You know, that's North Omaha for you.
05:02This is a community that's basically
05:07bred on poverty, you know,
05:10and Section 8 welfare, things like that.
05:14So you see a lot of kids, you know,
05:17that don't have as much as the next kid,
05:19and that becomes a problem
05:21because now those fortunate kids,
05:25well, more fortunate kids,
05:27is making fun of the less fortunate kids,
05:30and that becomes a problem.
05:33And now you got kids fighting
05:35and kids shooting,
05:37kids doing the things that,
05:38you know, it's crazy to do.
05:44What was your relationship with your parents like,
05:46you know, especially considering, like,
05:47where you've gotten today, I'm sure,
05:49you know, they had to make a lot of sacrifices
05:50along the way.
05:51Well, my mom, my mom was my best friend,
05:53but my mom was, you know, so tough on me.
05:56She was so tough on me.
05:57Like, she built tough skin within me.
06:03And my dad, he was in the military,
06:05and he was gone, you know,
06:07but he was always supportive.
06:10He was always, you know,
06:11telling me I'm going to be world champion,
06:13I'm going to make it.
06:14And my mom would be the one, like,
06:17he ain't going to be shit.
06:19You know what I mean?
06:19But given my mom,
06:23she knew how to get to me.
06:25She knew that I had the heart of a lion,
06:27that anything she told me I couldn't do,
06:30I was going to try to prove her wrong,
06:31because I always wanted that validation from her.
06:34So it was a great tactic.
06:37Guy still close today?
06:39Yeah, I see her every day.
06:40That's great.
06:41Who had the bright idea
06:42to put boxing gloves in your hands?
06:45My mom.
06:48Went home one day and told her that
06:50this guy was trying to talk to me.
06:54He was in a van,
06:55and he was talking about boxing,
06:59and I ran home and telling my mom,
07:02and as I'm telling her the story,
07:03he knocking on my door,
07:05and he comes in,
07:06and my whole family greets him.
07:08I'm like,
07:09this is the dude I'm telling y'all about.
07:11And they're like,
07:12oh, Carl,
07:13your dad, your uncle,
07:15and them used to box for him.
07:17And I was just like,
07:18oh, okay, okay.
07:19You know,
07:19so he was in line
07:20when he was talking about boxing.
07:22And then so,
07:23he asked me,
07:24did I want to box?
07:25And my mom looked at me,
07:27and she said,
07:27do you?
07:28I said,
07:29I'll try it.
07:30That's how I started boxing.
07:32And the rest is history.
07:33Yeah.
07:34When did you know you were better
07:35than everyone else?
07:37You know,
07:37when did you really start to feel like
07:38you were standing out?
07:40When I first got there,
07:41the first day,
07:42I always felt that.
07:43I always felt that I was the best
07:45at anything that I tried to do.
07:48You know,
07:49when I first went to the gym,
07:52I remember,
07:53like it was yesterday,
07:54I'm trying to spar,
07:55I'm trying to get in the ring
07:55and fight.
07:56I want to fight.
07:57How old were you?
07:58I was seven.
07:59I was,
08:00I was too young
08:01to even have a fight.
08:03You know,
08:03I'm like,
08:04I want to fight.
08:05Y'all brought me down here
08:06to fight.
08:06I want to fight.
08:07They like,
08:07hold on,
08:08little guy.
08:09You got to,
08:10you got to be in the gym
08:11and you got to learn
08:12how to box
08:12and you got to wait
08:14till you're eight years old
08:15for you to even fight
08:16and this and that and this.
08:17But,
08:18the more I trained,
08:20the more I was coming
08:21to the gym,
08:21they throw me in there
08:22with some eight,
08:24eight-year-olds,
08:25some nine-year-olds,
08:26and I hold my own.
08:27And they was just like,
08:28man,
08:28this little dude was tough.
08:30You know,
08:30so,
08:31when I got a little older,
08:33it's just me progressing
08:35and getting better and better.
08:38What do you think
08:38your breakthrough moment was?
08:40I think my breakthrough
08:41in amateurs or pro?
08:43Well,
08:44both.
08:44Let's start with amateurs.
08:46I think
08:46my amateur breakthrough
08:48was when I came back
08:49to the gym in 2002.
08:51You know,
08:52because I was,
08:52I was going away
08:53from the gym
08:54for like five years
08:55because I got kicked
08:57out of the gym.
08:57So I went to football,
08:58basketball,
08:59and wrestling
08:59and things like that.
09:01Why'd you get kicked
09:01out of the gym?
09:02Not listening.
09:03Not listening.
09:04I'm just hard-headed.
09:06So when I came back,
09:07I came back older,
09:09more mature,
09:10um,
09:11with my mindset
09:12that
09:13I'm going to do
09:14something different
09:15this time
09:15than I did
09:16the last times
09:17because I got kicked
09:18out twice.
09:19How old were you
09:20at this point?
09:20I was probably
09:21like eight,
09:22nine.
09:24Gotcha.
09:24And then professionally,
09:25you know,
09:26fast forward,
09:27what was the
09:27breakthrough moment there?
09:29My breakthrough moment
09:30was when I left
09:31top rank.
09:33Once I left top rank,
09:35that's when
09:35the rise
09:37of Terrence Crawford
09:38happened.
09:39You know,
09:39you've said publicly
09:40before your first pro fight,
09:41you made $600 for,
09:42which kind of
09:43in the scheme of things
09:44is just tiny compared today.
09:46Seven or eight years later,
09:47you start landing
09:47seven-figure purses.
09:48I believe Hank Lundy
09:49and Victor Postel
09:50were the first
09:51two million-dollar ones.
09:52What did it mean
09:53to you reach that level?
09:55Oh, it meant
09:55everything.
09:57You know,
09:57uh,
09:59it's crazy because
10:00coming up,
10:02I would have always
10:02think
10:03the champion
10:04was making
10:06millions of dollars
10:07not knowing
10:08that they wasn't.
10:11I was always like,
10:13since these guys
10:14on TV,
10:14they making
10:15this crazy amount
10:17of money.
10:17but it's never
10:18like that.
10:19It never was like that.
10:20So,
10:21when I fought
10:23Ricky Burns
10:24in Scotland
10:25and won my first title,
10:27I come back home
10:28and I gotta fight
10:28Gamboa.
10:30And I'm thinking
10:31they gonna pay me
10:31like a million dollars.
10:33Yeah.
10:34Nah.
10:35So I'm like,
10:36what?
10:37You know,
10:37I just fought this dude.
10:38I just went over there.
10:40You remember what
10:40the purse was?
10:41It was like
10:41$500,000.
10:44For your champion?
10:45Yeah.
10:46So I was just like,
10:47okay.
10:48You know,
10:48because that's
10:49the type of person
10:51that I am.
10:51I believe in myself.
10:52Yeah.
10:53So I'm like,
10:54all right,
10:54I'm gonna knock him off
10:55and then my next fight
10:56I'm gonna get more.
10:58Yeah.
10:58So,
10:59you know,
11:00he can't stop me.
11:01Yeah.
11:01So,
11:02that's how I work.
11:04Was anything fun
11:04when you started
11:05getting those
11:06million dollar purses?
11:07Nah.
11:09I didn't.
11:09You know,
11:10my first big check,
11:12I tried to buy
11:13my mama a house.
11:15You know,
11:15she didn't,
11:16nah,
11:16me and my mama
11:17ain't going nowhere.
11:19I said,
11:20I don't know why.
11:21You know,
11:22let me get y'all
11:24up out there.
11:24She went,
11:25nah.
11:26I said,
11:26all right,
11:27man.
11:28Bought me a house.
11:30I fixed they house up.
11:31Like,
11:31hey,
11:31if y'all not gonna move,
11:32I'm gonna gut it,
11:34remodel it.
11:35You know,
11:36so I bought the house
11:37not next door,
11:39but the door,
11:40the house next to the
11:41house next door,
11:42which I own all of them now.
11:45I moved them out that house,
11:47put them in that house,
11:49and just redid the whole house.
11:51Y'all wanna live in here,
11:52then I'm gonna gut it out
11:54and make it more livable,
11:56well,
11:57better livable.
11:58Yeah,
11:58of course.
11:59No,
12:00makes total sense.
12:01Obviously,
12:02the purses have changed
12:03quite a bit
12:04as you've climbed the ranks
12:05and now you're kind of
12:06at the top of the sport.
12:07I do wanna set the record
12:08straight,
12:09though.
12:09So before the Canelo fight,
12:11you had told people
12:12in the press
12:13that you were gonna get
12:13$10 million for that.
12:15And some people in the industry
12:16kind of like,
12:17scoffed at that mark,
12:18like,
12:18no way,
12:19this is such a big fight,
12:19he's getting more and more and more.
12:21So,
12:21you know,
12:22let's set the record
12:23straight here,
12:24okay?
12:25All in,
12:26bonus is everything.
12:26What'd you take home
12:27from Canelo?
12:28$5 million.
12:29All right,
12:33all right.
12:34That's fair.
12:35But Canelo
12:37was your biggest
12:38payday ever,
12:39right?
12:39Is that fair to say?
12:41You can say that.
12:42You can say that,
12:42but I don't know.
12:43Why are people
12:44so obsessed
12:45with pocket watching?
12:48You know,
12:48this is the Forbes mentality.
12:50That's right,
12:51that's right.
12:51I love it,
12:52though.
12:52I love it.
12:53Yeah,
12:53oh,
12:54because they'll never
12:55get their true answer
12:56from me.
12:57Of course,
12:58there's only in here that.
12:59Only a few people
13:00who know,
13:00right?
13:00Right.
13:00Spence,
13:02too,
13:03though,
13:03like,
13:04competing for a purse
13:05of that size,
13:06was that eye-opening?
13:07I mean,
13:07reports,
13:07again,
13:08like,
13:08definitely,
13:08definitely.
13:09I'm sure you won't
13:09tell me reports
13:10had it out there
13:10as $25 million,
13:11but to get to that level,
13:12like,
13:13is that just eye-opening
13:13when you think about
13:14where you were?
13:15For sure,
13:16for sure,
13:17especially,
13:17you know,
13:18giving what I was
13:21making prior to that,
13:24you know,
13:24so it was definitely
13:26an eye-opener.
13:28I'm my own boss.
13:29I don't got to pay nobody.
13:30I'm banking on myself
13:32and doing it my way.
13:34It's just,
13:34it was,
13:34everything about it
13:35was,
13:36you know,
13:37different.
13:38Let's talk about
13:39what you're doing
13:40with all this money.
13:41Obviously,
13:41you've kind of become
13:42pretty active
13:43as an investor.
13:44I'm curious,
13:45where did you pick up
13:45financial literacy?
13:47How did you learn
13:47what to do
13:48with your money?
13:49Well,
13:50just building
13:51those relationships
13:52with people
13:53that have money
13:55and been around money
13:56and know how
13:57to handle money
13:58and getting the knowledge
14:00and wisdom
14:01to know
14:03what to do with it.
14:05That's how
14:05I got into it.
14:07Who are your mentors?
14:08Who are these people
14:09that are kind of
14:10giving you this advice
14:11or kind of teaching you
14:12these things?
14:13Well,
14:13Jamie Nolette,
14:15my fourth grade teacher,
14:16she introduced me
14:17to this guy
14:18named Al.
14:20You know,
14:20he was definitely
14:21mentoring me
14:22for a period of time.
14:27Introduced me
14:28to a couple of people
14:30and a couple of people
14:32introduced me
14:32to some more people.
14:34Yeah.
14:35Now I'm in a room
14:36with individuals
14:39that got way more money
14:41than me.
14:42Some had less money
14:44but they all
14:45was in it
14:47for the same reason.
14:48That's
14:48to gain the knowledge
14:50and the toolages
14:52of
14:52expanding
14:54their wealth.
14:56When it comes
14:57to investing,
14:58are you the kind of guy
14:59who likes to take
15:00big swings
15:00or do you kind of
15:01look towards
15:01more steady things?
15:03How would you describe
15:04your investing profile?
15:04I'm a steady type of guy.
15:06Steady returns?
15:07Steady.
15:07I don't want to
15:08take no chances.
15:09I take too many chances
15:10in the ring.
15:11So,
15:12you know,
15:12if I can
15:13keep it like this,
15:15you know,
15:16then I know
15:16it's guaranteed.
15:18Nothing's guaranteed
15:19but I know
15:20it's,
15:21you know,
15:21there.
15:22There's another guy
15:23who likes
15:23to take steady returns
15:25in Omaha.
15:26I think you know him.
15:26His name's Warren Buffett.
15:27Just having someone
15:30like that,
15:30a figure
15:30in your hometown,
15:32like,
15:32does that inspire you?
15:34Is his presence
15:35like something
15:35that you kind of
15:36look to
15:36for guidance advice?
15:38Well,
15:39you know,
15:39Warren's a
15:41great guy
15:42outside of
15:45him being a billionaire.
15:47Yeah.
15:49The advice
15:50that he gave me
15:51when I talked to him,
15:53it wasn't much
15:55but it was something,
15:56you know,
15:57and being around him
15:59is definitely
16:00motivating,
16:02you know,
16:03because you get to see
16:04how you can have
16:07everything in the world
16:08but you don't got to be,
16:10you know,
16:11out there.
16:11You can just be simple
16:13and live your life
16:15how you want to live it.
16:17So,
16:17he's definitely,
16:18you know,
16:19a person that I look up to
16:20that's
16:21surrounding himself
16:23with a lot of smart people
16:24to gain a lot.
16:27a lot.
16:28Yeah,
16:28yeah,
16:28no,
16:29guys definitely
16:30seem to have
16:31similar mentalities.
16:32One thing
16:33you're very active in
16:34is you're a real estate investor,
16:35have around
16:3680-ish properties.
16:38Why do you like
16:38investing in real estate?
16:39Why has that become
16:40such a popular vehicle
16:41for you?
16:42I think,
16:43you know,
16:43my thing is
16:44God not making
16:45any more land.
16:47So,
16:48the more you own
16:50real estate,
16:51the more you own
16:52the world.
16:54You know,
16:55when you look at
16:56all these billionaires,
16:58Bill Gates,
16:58and all these people,
16:59Bill Gates own
17:00thousands and thousands
17:02of acres in Nebraska.
17:04You know,
17:04they come and buy up
17:06all this,
17:07this land,
17:08and,
17:09you know,
17:10what,
17:11what can anybody else
17:13do with it
17:13if
17:14somebody else
17:15owns it?
17:16Yeah.
17:17Yeah.
17:17You know,
17:17so I just always
17:18believe that
17:20we all need a place
17:21to stay.
17:22That's evident.
17:24So,
17:24why not
17:26have the person
17:27that's given
17:29a place to stay
17:30be me?
17:31Yeah.
17:32No,
17:32I think that makes
17:32perfect sense.
17:33You know,
17:34among your properties,
17:34you have a lot
17:35in North Omaha.
17:37You're in Kansas City,
17:38Colorado,
17:39you've got
17:39residential houses,
17:40apartment complexes,
17:42farmland,
17:42storefront.
17:43What are you looking for
17:45when you're scouting
17:45prospective properties
17:47like,
17:47what kinds,
17:48like,
17:49what,
17:49what pieces
17:50matter to you?
17:51Well,
17:51my thing is,
17:52it depends on
17:53the location
17:54and what the location
17:56is missing
17:56or what they have
17:58that you can
17:59counter off of.
18:01You know,
18:01when I look at
18:02locations,
18:03I say,
18:03okay,
18:05this location
18:05got gas stations,
18:08it got,
18:09you know,
18:11McDonald's,
18:12Burger Kings,
18:13it's got everything
18:15around here,
18:16but it's no
18:17houses.
18:17Yeah.
18:18You know,
18:18it's a lot of
18:19jobs around here,
18:20but it's no houses
18:21and no apartments,
18:23you know,
18:23so you kind of
18:24want to put
18:25something there
18:26to make a little
18:27community
18:28and make things,
18:28you know,
18:29worth going to.
18:31Maybe you put a,
18:32put a grocery store
18:34there,
18:35you know,
18:36maybe you just put
18:37houses there,
18:37but you got to
18:38know the location
18:40that you try to
18:40invest in
18:41and then you go
18:43from there.
18:43You've had all
18:43success in the
18:44world,
18:45could live
18:45anywhere you
18:46want,
18:46you've chosen
18:47to remain in
18:47Omaha.
18:48Why do you
18:49want to remain
18:50so close to
18:50where you're
18:50from?
18:51Because I
18:52think being
18:53here at home
18:55give these kids
18:57and not just the
18:58kids,
18:59the people here
19:00hope that
19:01anything's possible.
19:03You know,
19:03I say that a lot
19:04because I really
19:05mean that.
19:05when you see
19:07all the people
19:07that came out
19:09of Omaha,
19:10Nebraska,
19:11North Omaha,
19:1224th Street,
19:14let alone,
19:16you'll be amazed
19:17how many people
19:18made it
19:19and never
19:20came back,
19:21never looked
19:22back,
19:22never tried to
19:23pull nobody
19:24up out of
19:25Omaha and
19:26try to help
19:27nobody,
19:27no nothing.
19:28It's heartbreaking.
19:30Yeah.
19:31You know,
19:31when you,
19:32when you go to
19:33these other
19:35cities,
19:36people are so
19:37proud to be
19:37where they
19:38from.
19:38Yeah.
19:39They,
19:39they wear
19:40with high
19:42regards.
19:42I'm from
19:43such and
19:43such,
19:43I'm from
19:44such and
19:44such.
19:45But
19:46unfortunately,
19:48when you
19:49come from
19:50a small
19:51town compared
19:52to those
19:53bigger cities
19:54like Omaha,
19:55sometimes people
19:56be ashamed to
19:57say where
19:58they from.
20:00So that's
20:01why I stay
20:02here.
20:02Yeah.
20:03So I can
20:03pull the ones
20:04up behind
20:05me.
20:05So I'm
20:06not the
20:07only one.
20:08Obviously,
20:08you know,
20:08like we're
20:09in your
20:09gym here.
20:10I'm curious,
20:10what kind of
20:10impact on the
20:11community do you
20:12feel you've
20:12made by
20:13remaining here,
20:14by investing
20:14in this
20:14community?
20:15Oh,
20:16tremendous
20:16impact.
20:17You know,
20:18I'm,
20:18I'm creating
20:20jobs for
20:21people around.
20:23I'm creating
20:25safe,
20:27safe
20:28environments for
20:29them to bring
20:29their kids and
20:30for them to
20:31come to as
20:31well.
20:33I'm providing
20:34shelter for
20:36people that
20:36live in my
20:37houses as
20:40well as the
20:40apartments.
20:42So everything
20:44that I'm doing
20:45in the community
20:46is not only for
20:47me, it's for
20:47them as well.
20:49Another question
20:50on Omaha's
20:51other famous
20:51resident,
20:52Warren Buffett,
20:53I should say
20:53famous, not
20:54only famous
20:55resident.
20:56You famously
20:57took a picture
20:57with him where
20:57you put him in
20:58a headlock.
20:58why did
21:00that happen?
21:01He just
21:02told me to
21:03put him in
21:03a headlock
21:04because we
21:04was about to
21:05take a picture
21:05and he was
21:06just like,
21:07all right,
21:07I got an
21:07idea.
21:09I was like,
21:10he was like,
21:11I was like,
21:11what up?
21:11He was like,
21:13let's just do
21:14something crazy,
21:14just put me
21:15in a headlock.
21:17Put you in
21:17a headlock?
21:18He was like,
21:19yeah,
21:19just put me
21:20in a headlock.
21:20So I was like,
21:21all right.
21:22So it was a
21:23good picture.
21:24Yeah, that's
21:25great.
21:25I mean,
21:25another thing
21:26you guys have
21:26in common,
21:27Buffett's known
21:27as a value
21:28investor,
21:29this sense
21:30of pragmatic
21:30frugality.
21:32You spoke
21:32to the Wall
21:33Street Journal
21:33a couple
21:33years ago
21:34and you
21:34just simplified
21:35it to,
21:36we're both
21:36cheap.
21:37Is that
21:37something you
21:38model after
21:38him?
21:38Is that
21:38from your
21:39own experience?
21:40How does
21:40that arise?
21:41I think
21:41that's just
21:42been me
21:42my whole
21:43life.
21:44I always
21:45save money
21:46thinking
21:47one day
21:50I might
21:50not be able
21:52to do
21:52what I was
21:53doing to
21:53make money
21:54or earn
21:54for a rainy
21:57day.
21:57You never
21:58know.
21:59So I
22:00would just
22:00always save
22:01money but
22:01just saving
22:03money ain't
22:04making money.
22:04I was taught
22:06to make
22:06money while
22:08you're sleeping.
22:09Your money
22:09is making
22:10money.
22:11That's how I
22:11got into
22:12financial literacy
22:14and stock
22:15markets and
22:16real estate
22:18and things
22:19like that.
22:20I have a
22:21burning question
22:21for you that
22:22I think
22:22everyone wants
22:23to know.
22:24Is there
22:24going to be
22:24a Canelo
22:25rematch?
22:25Is there
22:26a rematch
22:26clause?
22:26Is there
22:26something you're
22:27thinking about?
22:28I'm not even
22:29thinking about
22:29that right now
22:30and quite
22:31frankly I
22:32don't think
22:32it is a
22:33rematch
22:33clause and
22:34if it is
22:34nothing has
22:35been said
22:36to me about
22:37fighting him
22:38again or
22:38anything.
22:40Do you think
22:40Canelo would
22:41want to get
22:41back in the
22:41ring with you
22:42or do you
22:42think it's
22:43better for
22:43him or more
22:44lucrative to
22:45go fight
22:45elsewhere for
22:46the rest of
22:46his career?
22:46I think it
22:48would be
22:48better for
22:49him to
22:50fight somebody
22:51else because
22:52my style is
22:53just a bad
22:55matchup for
22:56him.
22:57Now financially
22:57wise I
22:59would be like
22:59yeah he
23:00should fight
23:00me but
23:00like on
23:02the outside
23:02looking in
23:03knowing boxing
23:04you can really
23:06get hurt so
23:07I would just
23:08tell him like
23:09if you're
23:10going to
23:10continue to
23:11fight don't
23:12get in the
23:13ring with a
23:14guy like me.
23:15There's a
23:16popular adage
23:17in sports that
23:18kind of gets
23:19reused over
23:19again.
23:20It's kind of
23:20cliche.
23:21Father time is
23:21undefeated.
23:23You're 38
23:23years old.
23:24We see a lot
23:25of athletes now
23:25go into the
23:26late 30s and
23:2740s and
23:27produce at a
23:27high level.
23:29How much
23:29longer do you
23:30want to do
23:30this?
23:32I don't know.
23:33No clue yet?
23:34Did beating
23:34Canelo make you
23:35think about those
23:36next steps in
23:37any way?
23:38Before Canelo
23:39I was thinking
23:40about a lot.
23:41And I'm still
23:42thinking about a
23:43lot.
23:43I just haven't
23:44made my final
23:44decision.
23:45But once I
23:47make it I'm
23:47going to make
23:48it.
23:49And I'm
23:49going to
23:49make it here
23:50soon.
23:51How important
23:51would it be to
23:52you to retire
23:53undefeated?
23:54Like greats like
23:54Blake Mayweather,
23:55Rocky Marciano.
23:56What would that
23:57mean to you?
23:58It means a lot
23:59to be able to
24:00sit there amongst
24:02a few athletes
24:03that came out of
24:05the sport of
24:06boxing and say
24:06I never lost.
24:08It's not an
24:10easy task to
24:12do.
24:12So to be able
24:14to walk next
24:16to those
24:16individuals is
24:19a blessing in
24:20its own right.
24:21Did you ever
24:21dream of fighting
24:22someone like
24:22Mayweather or
24:23Pacquiao greats
24:24who overlapped?
24:25Pacquiao, yeah.
24:26I was supposed to
24:26fight Pacquiao for
24:28years.
24:29I think there was
24:29this dangling that
24:30carrot over my
24:31head but
24:31Mayweather,
24:33no, never.
24:34Disappointed the
24:34Pacquiao thing
24:35never came through?
24:35Definitely was
24:36disappointed.
24:37Definitely was
24:38disappointed given
24:39the fights that
24:41he had over me
24:42and the fighters
24:43that they allow
24:45him to fight
24:45instead of me.
24:46I'm definitely
24:47disappointed.
24:48When you do
24:49eventually reach
24:49that point where
24:50you're hanging up
24:51the boxing gloves,
24:52what kind of goals
24:53do you have for
24:53the rest of your
24:54life?
24:54What business
24:54goals, what do
24:55you want to
24:55accomplish outside
24:56the ring once
24:57you are done
24:57with that moment
24:58in your life?
24:58I think I want
25:00to dive in
25:01real estate heavier.
25:03I think I can
25:06make some big
25:08moves in Omaha
25:09and around the
25:10country in real
25:12estate.
25:13As long as I
25:14do it right,
25:15everything will
25:17be good.
25:18The last thing
25:19I want to ask
25:19you, what do
25:20you want your
25:21legacy to be?
25:22I think when
25:23you talk about
25:25Terrence Crawford,
25:25you're going to
25:26talk about how
25:26great of a
25:27father he is.
25:29You're going to
25:29talk about how
25:30great of a
25:31boxer he was.
25:32You're going to
25:32say how humble
25:33he was.
25:35You're going to
25:35say how caring
25:36he was.
25:37what he did
25:38for the
25:39community, what
25:40he did for
25:40people that
25:41he didn't
25:41know.
25:42There's going
25:42to be a lot
25:43of things that
25:44they're going to
25:45say about
25:45Terrence Crawford
25:46and it's all
25:47going to be
25:48true.
25:48Some might
25:48not, but most
25:49of it is going
25:50to be true if
25:51we've been
25:52honest about
25:52who Terrence
25:53Crawford really
25:54is.
25:56And that's
25:57that.
25:58I'm going to
25:58let my
25:59actions with
26:03my children
26:03speak for me.
26:04Terrence Crawford
26:06thank you so
26:06much for being
26:07here today.
