00:07In a month where the biggest tech companies led US stock market indices to successive new highs,

00:13the CEO of sizzling AI chip firm NVIDIA also joined the upward march. Jensen Huang begins

00:20August as the sixth richest person in the world, per Forbes' estimates, up from number 10 at the

00:26start of July. His fortune expanded by $17 billion in the past month to $154.8 billion as NVIDIA

00:35became the first company with a market capitalization of $4 trillion. Its shares rose about 14% during

00:43July. Our top 10 richest people on Earth list is as of August 1, 2025 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time.

00:51As a reminder, stock prices fluctuate routinely, so the net worths on our list may change on a daily

00:57basis. Forbes tracks the daily changes on our real-time list of billionaires. Forbes has been

01:02keeping track of the world's billionaires since 1987. In April 2025, we found 3,028 of them for

01:10our annual list. Jensen Huang wasn't even the biggest gainer among the top 10 wealthiest in the past month,

01:17in dollar terms. That prize went to the world's number two richest, Larry Ellison, who remained

01:24second richest for the second month in a row. Shares of Ellison's software and cloud computing firm

01:30Oracle also surged 14% during July and added $37 billion to Ellison's net worth. It's now just shy

01:38of $300 billion at $299.6 billion. In late July, his son David Ellison's firm Skydance sealed a deal to

01:48acquire Paramount, owner of CBS, MTV, Nickelodeon, and more, for $8 billion, helped along by Larry

01:55Ellison's fortune and his warm ties with President Trump. Another person in the top 10, Meta CEO Mark

02:03Zuckerberg, attracted lots of attention for the $100 million-sized pay packages his company has

02:08been awarding the cream of AI talent. On the last day of July, Zuckerberg's fortune rallied by nearly

02:15$27 billion following a strong quarterly earnings report on July 30. Despite the big July 31 surge,

02:23Zuckerberg's net worth jump for the month was a more muted $12 billion gain, putting him at $266.7 billion.

02:31Overall, 8 of the world's top 10 richest begin August with fatter fortunes than on July 1.

02:38The two outliers, Elon Musk, whose fortune contracted by $5.3 billion, and Warren Buffett,

02:45whose net worth dropped by $2.2 billion. Musk is still the world's richest person by far,

02:52worth an estimated $401 billion, and the only person on Forbes' list worth more than $400 billion.

02:59Buffett fell to number 9, down three spots from a month ago. His fortune stands at $143.4 billion.

03:09Altogether, the world's top 10 richest are worth $2.1 trillion, $100 billion more than on July 1.

03:18At number 4 this month is Jeff Bezos, whose fortune climbed by $13 billion in the month of July,

03:24to $246.4 billion, as Amazon shares rose nearly 7%. The Amazon founder also made headlines in late June

03:34for his blowout wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice, Italy.

03:38At number 5 is Google co-founder Larry Page, who is worth $158 billion. His fortune rocketed up a bit more

03:46than $12 billion in the past month on the back of a nearly 9% uptick in Alphabet shares.

03:52Not mentioned here so far and filling out the top 10 are number 7, Sergey Brin, the other co-founder of

03:58Google, whose net worth is now $150.8 billion. Number 8, Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft

04:06and owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, whose net worth is $148.7 billion.

04:11And number 10, Bernard Arnault, the French CEO and chairman of luxury goods group LVMH, whose net worth is $142.9 billion.
