After meeting the gal of his dreams on a commuter train, an office worker uses a fleet of paper airplanes to get her attention after spying her again in a skyscraper window.
Paperman is a beautifully animated short, brimming was charming little touches and a big unapologetic heart. Following a chance encounter at a train station with a beautiful young woman, a New York office clerk is given a second chance at making a meet cute connection when he spies the same girl in the opposite skyscraper. Building a series of paperplanes he attempts to finally get her attention. Although far from a sophisticated story few films, short or feature length, manage to convey their message with such grace, warmth and simplicity. No frame is wasted and in a mere four minutes you are whisked away by this sentimental gesture and the possibility of romantic discovery. It’s a film full of well observed and gentle humour that packs a well earned emotional punch by its close.
